Update One Hundred and Seventy-Four: 25 May 2018

Campus Notes - forget me not.

46 hours, 54 of 54 achievements
5/10

☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆

Okay. This is a real bewildering one.

I finished Campus Notes literally two minutes ago, and yet I struggle to recall anything concrete about the storyline other than it’s a really poorly-explained sci-fi tale. The game leaves little impression other than the characters are goofy, the writing is odd, the art is mostly okay, and it was blissfully blissfully on the short side. All those achievements didn’t hurt it, either.

If I don’t have strong impressions of a game, I try to fill space by kind of launching into a short recap, but I don’t even want to do it for this game, that’s how much it made my brain hurt. Going from Requiem for Innocence to this is like going from a 5 Michelin star restaurant to a Denny’s. Running counter to the whole thrust of the game - suddenly everyone forgets you and four of your friends and you all have to figure out why there I did it - I’m forgetting more and more of this game even as I write about it.

Oh, also, for some good god-forsaken reason, ellipses in this game were aligned not at the bottom of the letters, but in the middle, where hyphens, en, and em dashes live. A change so small really fucked with my brain in an unpleasant way. Don’t do that shit, it’s unnecessary and a distraction.

Next up: Another feebie game! Time to -

See you soon!
