☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆

As I do with most games, I consult with RNGesus (I prefer using random.org) to help chose which games to play next. It spat out this hidden object game… just in time for the Hidden Object Game monthly theme! It’s one of my most favorite genres, and I have a good half dozen (or more…) hidden object games in my backlog, so for the month of June I’m going to be playing a hidden object game every other non-VN game. Starting off with Clockwork Tales was a good setup!

Clockwork Tales, like nearly all Artifex Mundi games, is a competent, relaxing hidden object game. There’s not a lot to differentiate it from other hidden object games - it didn’t have the best story (in fact, it was somewhat weak) nor was its premise super thrilling. I’m not a big fan of steampunk stuff in general. The voice acting was… okay, though I’m SHOCKED they didn’t have that same lady do the voice acting, you know the one, yeah, her. This game must be older than I thought it was, because the 2D manipulated illusion of principle characters talking to the player looked… pretty bad in this one, where I remember it looking much more natural in other A.M. games.

One bright spot I found was how they handled the little extra collectumables this time around. Usually they’re just ephemera that you find throughout the world and collect them. They show up like stickers in a book, or are pieces of a picture that gets put together. This game is a little different. There are these different mechanical bugs hidden around, and they’re collected in a jewelry box when you find them. You can click on them, and get a little explanation about what kind of bugs these are. Like, this one feeds off of gunpowder, that one feeds off of vibrations of an engine, etc. It was a real nice, cute bit of worldbuilding that, I dunno, I really liked.

Next up: Time to flip.

See you soon!

Sad thing is that I know indeed xD
But the most important thing! Did you click on the cat?

I did in the extra bonus episode! But in the normal game? No, because I clicked on the girl and her singing was so…. soooo annoying I daren’t try clicking anything else.
