Like Aviary Attorney, Four Last Things relies heavily on its schtick of being composed entirely of cut and pasted together Renaissance (and later, some of these paintings are from as late as 1803 or so) paintings. The effect is absolutely gorgeous and seamless - even more impressive when you look through an art gallery in-game featuring every painting used, and you’re able to pick out which piece is where and marvel at how nicely they’re put together, how cohesive even across differing painters, eras, and countries.

The only problem is there’s not much to it otherwise than that.

I think this game definitely, achingly needed voice acting. Even if you had a talented two of three people doing a bunch of goofy fucking voices, it’d be better. It’d liven up a pretty short, shallow experience. You’re a nondescript vagrant, and because of schenanigans, you have to go around and commit the seven deadly sins. Once you do, there’s a short series of scenes and the game is over. You can do the sins in any order, and the puzzles are all self-contained. Everything is caricature and pastiche, and it’s clever to be clever.

I should just take it for what it is, but, I dunno, it left me feeling empty. If you take my word as gospel and go into this game just to take it for what it is, you’ll probably fare a lot better than I did. Though, let’s be real - finding one’s paycheck bounced due to a bank processing error (and getting charged an additional 12 dollars for having it happen) would sour anyone’s mood.

Next up: I’m heading tf to the bank tomorrow - and I need me some cooooomfooooort.

See you soon!

Four Last Things is on my wishlist…I’m sorry you didn’t enjoy it, or found it so lacking. So wait– did the bank processing things happen to you? And why did you get charged if it was their error? Or was it another bank’s error that caused it, so your bank said “tough luck?” Either way…not pleasant. :( *hug*

I’d still say keep it on your wishlist, and get it discounted. I think it’s more like ‘it’s not good for me’ rather than ‘it’s not good period’.

I stopped in at my bank, and the teller… couldn’t help me, exactly. I had re-deposited the check from my mobile last night. He said two things could happen - either it bounces again, I get charged another 12 dollar fee, and I take it to another bank, cash the check, and deposit it into my account and they refund me the two fees… OR it goes through, I go back and they refund me the fee.

The long and the short of it was it was a strange hassle - he doesn’t get why that happened - but it’ll be all sorted out by Thursday, which is nice.

Oh my GOD Trent being an adult is so tiring
