I think the problem is you may have misunderstood the nature of M&B: Warband.

Those things like being given missions and such are just training wheels so you understand the basics because even in rather limited vanilla game you’re meant to set your own objectives and work towards them. Simple things like equipping and training your own fighting men to founding a faction through conquest. There’s also a matter of some insanely good TC mods out there that add aforementioned hundreds of hours to the game provided multiplayer isn’t your thing.

Thanks for the input. I can certainly see the potential. It was difficult to earn money (listen to rumors, pick a low priced item, take it somewhere that may be quite far away, and sell it for a higher price). Looting bandits provided some materials to be sold but it just was not enough.

The tutorials were mostly about how to use weapons. That gave me the impression fighting was the main focus of the game, which unfortunately was my least favorite part.

I could certainly review some well rated mods and give it another try in the future, but for the time being I will let it sit.

Yeah, if you didn’t like combat you definitely made the right call because that’s still what most of the game comes down.
