November - December Update!

I haven’t done a lot of gaming due to work, holidays, etc, so here’s a small post of my (small) progress.

Bioshock 2: Remastered

I really enjoyed Bioshock 1 and Infinite so I was really nervous to play this one because I've heard bad things about it.
I agree it's not as good as the first one, but I actually enjoyed Bioshock 2 and I think it improved on a lot of things.

The story is not as good. I love Bioshock for its story and lore so I was a little disappointed in that category. There are still plenty of tapes and the lore does continue on, but the main storyline was kind of shallow.

The gameplay was improved in a lot of ways though. I haven't played the first one in a while, but the sequel feels more smooth, especially when using your abilities. I like all the different abilities and how they were incorporated into the game. It just feels cooler to string the abilities together now. The little sister harvest segments were neat, but after a while it got tedious. I did like that it explored the Little Sisters more so I could understand what they were and how they act.

The choices were pretty straightforward like the first game. There was one that just didn't make sense to me, so when I thought I was doing the good choice it was actually the bad one. I like that there are more then two endings now.

Overall, I didn't like it as much as Bioshock 1, or infinite but I still really enjoyed it. I will always agree to take a trip down to rapture (or any other setting these wonderfully creative games give us). I heard there is another game being announced so I'm very excited!

I didn't have any issues with this remaster or the first one. I know a lot of people are having crashes but I personally had no crashes or bugs. I recommend this game (or the original non-remastered) on sale or full price!

The Haunted Island, A Frog Detective Game

This is a cute little game that will take you about an hour to beat. You play as a frog detective who must investigate the mysterious noises on a "haunted" island.

The gameplay is basic, You speak to someone who needs an item. You speak to someone else who gives you the item, then you give the first peron that item. Repeat a few times and tada! The gameplay is basic but Frog Detective does have a lot of charm.
The dialogue is cute and funny. The game can be enjoyed by kids and adults.

There isn't much to say about Frog Detective. I saw that they just released a sequel so I wish them luck. It's not a great game, it's pretty average actually. But for the price of a McDonald's meal, it's not a bad deal!

Oh I really enjoyed Bioshock 2 myself and I totally get the sister harvesting, after the 1st couple of times it got tedious and then they make it a dlc you have to do as well. I also had 0 crashes on the game but with my old laptop the 1st one crashed over 20 times, replaying it though only did it once.

Also if you plan to buy life is strange they got it for 50% off on fanatical. Was sad to see no sale on steam but screw it, dont take my money!
Oh damn gmg is actually a bigger sale. Should’ve waited for next pay day to get it myself! 65p is almost a full game/dlc

The first one crashed once for me but I had a very good laptop at the time. Too bad people have so many crashes or it’d be a great remaster.

Thanks for the tips on Life Is Strange! I’ll def get it where it’s cheaper.

I’ve heard the sequel to a frog detective is even better. The gameplay is barebones for sure but the dialogue made me laugh, very wholesome.
Definitely interested in hearing your thoughts on Bug Fables as well!
First time seeing Intralism but with that sale, I gotta pick it up. :D
Happy holidays stef, wishing you a wonderful new year!

Yeah I got Frog Detective in a bundle so I wasn’t upset about how short it was. It has a lot of charm so I’ll have to add the sequel to my wishlist.

I’ll def let you know about Bug Fables. I was a huge Paper Mario fan (the first two anyway) and apparantly this is inspired by that. Hope you have a great christmas/New Year!

I missed out on paper mario sadly :( but have watched gameplay here and there and it looks fantastic (as all mario games are). I’m also pretty sure we rented The Thousand-Year Door back in the day but my brother hogged a lot of it so I never got too far. haha Am all for similar games being made!
