Aquilla

Finished in June (1-4)

I started this month with a few smaller games. And I wasn’t dissapointed. I also completed most of them. Mostly because you I caught all the achievements by simply finishing the game.

AtmaSphere

5/10

A game from a category I’m calling “Mom look, I made a game!”. A kind of project you are making when you are learning how to use a game engine. Very symplistic physic oriented game, where you steer a ball and you need to go through obstacle course. It wasn’t terrible, later levels were challenging, mostly because of scarce checkpoints. And it is dirty cheap, so all in all nice distraction.

  • Rusty Lake Hotel

Rusty Lake Hotel

8/10

Last of the Rusty Lake games for me and as the others, weird and disturbing. This one is more escape the room than classic adventure game, you are helping Hotel menager to feed guests of the hotel. The guests are animals, there is meat for dinner every day…. guess how you are “helping”. Apart from that - nice puzzles, Ican easily recommend it.

  • Batman - The Telltale Series

Batman - The Telltale Series

8/10

Classic Telltale - A cartoon which is pretending that your choices matters, but the core of story is very linear and the ending is always the same. I really enjoyed the story. This is retelling of Batman, but a lot of stuff is changed. Like in Nolan movies. One of the main opponents is the Penguin which has NOTHING to do with original Penguin, apart from the name, but is very nice character. Beside him we have 2 additional villains, one cameo, and a Catwoman, who as always is doing what she wants. The family story of Wayne’s is also changed in the interesting way. The plot is more about Bruce Wayne than Batman, which is always fun, and Bruce went into some deep troubles this time. Gameplay… it’s Telltale - it’s gloryfied visual novel. But the writing, voice acting, visuals are good, so if you treat this as a 6 episodes long cartoon - it is great. And I will gladly play the second part - Enemy Within.

  • The Pedestrian

The Pedestrian

8/10

Gorgeous puzzle platformer. You are playing on 2d maps, but in the 3d enviroments - on pieces o papers, signs etc, and going through 3D metropolia. The game is absolutely beautiful and this is its main advantage. I just wanted to play to see next stage of it. Story - I think there is something, but is almost non existing, and the ending is very cryptic - I don’t even try to understand it. And gameplay - it’s a well made puzzle platformer, with some smart mechanics, and I was enjoying it even if I’m really tired of this genre. Some levels were challenging, but I never was completely stuck, and everything was logic. The last puzzle was absolutely awesome, and I will not spoil it here.I highly recommend it, especially if you like puzzle games.

Murder is Meat

Need to finish Cube Escape: The Cave to get on with the next of the Rusty Lake games. Hotel was a bit of an anomaly, but overall I enjoyed it and I’m quite glad it finally got achievements.

The Pedestrian sounds interesting, gonna add it to my wishlist.

Evolve

Started playing the Rusty Lake games recently and was quite disappointed by the Hotel as a lot of puzzles were completely illogical. Then i played the Roots and it was pretty awesome, most puzzles are intuitive and the story they tell solely through them is just awesomely gruesome. The style in both games is brilliant for a low budget title. I`m looking forward to Paradise and hopefully Cube escape will have a decent discount.
