Aquilla

Finished in July(1-4)

I started my month of non-steam games and I finished four of them - form GOG, Epic and itchio. Mostly a bit older games, most of them very good. I will continue with this theme, although I don’t really know, what I want to play next :D .

  • A Hat in Time

    GOG

A Hat in Time

7/10

It’s very solid 3D platformer, colorful, enjoyable, not to easy, not to hard. I had very good time, although I didn’t finish the last bossfight. It just broke for me (my opponent disappeared), and I read that it is known issue and I should reload, go through the whole last level again and just hope it won’t happen again. Nope. I just watched the ending on you tube.

  • Torchlight

    GOG

Torchlight

4/10

Maybe this game was good when it came, but it is so boooooooooooooooring now. You are going through the dungeon and fight enemies. Again, again, again. I love some good hack and slashes, but here nothing was interesting. On normal mode game is incredibly easy, the skills are standard and boring, and the loot system is just broken. I think half of my equipment was sitting with me for half of the game, because I didn’t find anything better. The shops are completely useless, and so are the money. In the end I just ignored all the loot because it was no use for me.There were a few good ideas, like your pet, which could go to the town and just sell stuff for you, so you don’t need to go back and forth, but all in all it’s just boring Diablo clone, and there are much, much better games in this genre now.

  • Oneshot

    itchio

Oneshot

8/10

That was an interesting adventure game. I would say it is breaking forth wall, but it has no forth wall to begin with. You are straight up talking with your character, there are some riddles which are requiring you to search your computer, or move files, and your cheracter can feel sad, that you turn off the game and left her alone. All in all that’s very good, experimental game, and I totally understand it’s good rep.

  • Transistor

    Epic

Transistor

8/10

I really like Supergiant Games studio. Their games are always unique, and Transistor is no different. It has interesting combat, which is a mix between turn based and real time. It took me a while to understand it, but after that it was very fun. Beside that it has interesting world, story and characters. I still think, Bastion was a bit better, but I had great fun playing this game.

I kinda felt the same with Torchlight 2. I never really got into it despite all the nice critics it got. So I would never dare to try the first one!
