May Warm Hearts Create a Brighter Future
With the last of the snow storms being at the end of the first week of May I believe Summer is finally ready to be here. Now that the weather has finally changed for the better I am looking to change for the better with it and get a lot done. My next costume project as daunting as it is shall commence soon after some more heavy research into what I will be sewing together, looking for jobs that will lead me into my desired career, reintroducing old and new hobbies, and of course clearing that backlog… eventually. Due to setting up my update ahead of time, I did not anticipate beating more games before the month ended and thus is a little disorganized. So, if I triggered anybodies OCD, I apologize on behalf of my laziness.

    Card City Nights

    Card City Nights

    13 hours playtime

A simple card game that requires you to connect and combo cards via there directional connectors to defeat your opponent. The multiple ways to win whether you reduce their life points, fortify yours, or try to reduce their deck count allow multiple ways for you to build your deck to what suits your preference. However the various enemies you face along the way will require some flexibility as you may need to create the perfect counter deck to theirs.Surprisingly fun with some decent humor laid about.

You ever set yourself to play a game despite realizing how bad it probably is? That was the case for this game. Everything told me that this game was going to be bad, but the allure of fighting greek mythology from opening Pandoras Box. Imagine my surprise when they decide to face you off a very small select of enemies that most aren’t even in the greek lore. It would have been fine to mix mythological beasts from various cultures if they were a little more diverse and enjoyable to fight. Furthermore the gunplay and “abilities” you get don’t add much to diverse gameplay. Perhaps if they did some sort of upgrade system that involved various abilities with your new found power that could have added some potential. Not to mention this game is quite buggy. Oh did I just step over that corpse? Definitely means I just died? Did I stub my toe on a piece of wood? Definitely took a big chunk of damage. Simply do not recommend.

    STAR WARS™ Battlefront (Classic, 2004)

    STAR WARS™ Battlefront (Classic, 2004)

Generally the Battlefront II (Classic) is just a vastly more improved version of this game. The map designs and gameplay is just severely lacking compared to the direct sequel. Although you can fight alongside famous Star Wars heroes (Mace Windu, Luke Skywalker, etc.) it doesn’t seem there is a way to get to actually play them, that being an exciting bonus to the future installments.

    STAR WARS™ Episode I Racer

    STAR WARS™ Episode I Racer

Surprisingly decent racer based off a non racer franchise, despite it being an obvious direction when they introduced pod racing in the Phantom Menace. It doesn’t go about showing the games mechanics very well, though it is from a time when physical manuals were still a thing so it gets a pass there. Boost, brakes, directing your engines, and managing parts (they have a durability set that I wish I had figured out early on) are all mechanics in the game. The game isn’t nearly as much as keeping ahead of your competitors as it is crashing the least. Most of the levels are designed to get you to crash so much that even going off a ramp/jump causes damage to your pod. Even when I had crashed multiple times, I didn’t find it too hard to stay in first place for majority of the levels. Overall decent and recommend if your a fan of the series and racing.

    Toast Time

    Toast Time

    2 hours playtime

As a toaster you must prevent the… I don’t actually know what those little coffee droplets or something are, but stop them from destroying your alarm clock by any bread necessary. As you continue each level you will gain different kinds of toast and breads to soak up the diabolical smiling terrors as you hold out until the timer hits zero. Despite the game urging you to keep accuracy if you run out of special ammo, more surprise boxes appear which help you unlock more bread weapons. So it feels a bit of mix messages. As you get towards the final level the designs become more complex and often leave you with more time. The biggest qualm with the game is that I find my mouse pointer blending in with all the other white enemies, toast and toaster and thus lose track of my shot directions. So maybe get this for your smart phone, definitely a good way to kill time.

    House Party

    House Party

    4 hours playtime

As someone who isn’t particularly fond of going to parties in life, I found conversing with people in a virtual party to be just as tedious. Your general objective is to try to get people to like you by doing correct dialogue options and various tasks. Of course you do the opposite and piss people off, but that generally gets you knocked out… just like at real parties. Most routes often end up with you getting into “romantic” situations with the person you are trying to get on good terms with and seems to be the general payoff of the game. But hey, who says you can’t be social on the computer.
Lewd? Quite Lewd, All Hookup scenes aside you can literally whip your wang out at any time, sling your salami, choke your chicken, or whatever you want to call it anywhere inside the game… or outside( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°).

    Hotline Miami

    Hotline Miami

    3 hours playtime

Thanks to the Spring Cleaning tasks on Steam, I got to add a bunch of games from unplayed to unfinished. This being one of them I was fortunate enough to finish it before the month finished. Fast paced and puzzle like you are a masked hitman set to clear out rooms of enemies using various melee weapons, fists, guns, and even doors. Just be careful as the enemies are just as deadly as you are and is often one hit one kill situations. The more annoying part of the game is that stealth really doesn’t exist, so even if an enemy is facing the opposite direction, their mafia sense will tingle and turn around to spray you down before you can say Oh Lord. Relatively short, but offers replay value to go through each level with various masks that offer different abilities and different weapons strewn about to get better scores and higher combos. The game, although low in graphics, seems heavily inspired by the 80’s and Miami Vice and is a nice feel with a fitting soundtrack backing it.

    Out There Somewhere

    Out There Somewhere

    2 hours playtime

Another game that I ended up playing thanks to the Steam Spring Cleaning tasks. What starts out to be a bullet hell in space very quickly turns into a puzzle platformer as you must traverse the strange planet with your teleportation gun to repair your ship and take down your criminal nemesis. The gameplay quality of the teleport gun is surprisingly good, which is a shame that the game is so short. The game can have some challenging parts, but isn’t terribly difficult overall. I beat the game in less than an hour on my first time through and there is even achievement for beating it in less than 20 which doesn’t seem all that difficult. Of course there are secrets to find, and achievements to unlock. I believe there is an Omega edition of this in my library and look forward to seeing what that entails of. The game is only worth $.99, so I would definitely recommend for that price. Edit: There is no Omega version of this game, simply a game with a similar title.

I certainly hope these Summer rays bring forth, you all, better days. Be kind and be well. ^_^

First time I heard about Legendary. Seems pretty cool and cheap.

Bangledeschler

I’d recommend getting it at a discount if it piques your interest enough to get it. For the amount of grief I give it is an okay game, but simply could have been better and did not meet my hopes and expectations.

Spitfyr

I played Legendary a few years ago. The FPS gameplay is below average. But for playing the hero in a cheap B-Movie story I somehow liked it and it is was worth the playthrough.

House Party! I remember trying the game when it was in beta or something and free to play. It looked fun and lewd, but I never managed to go far, I had a hard time fitting in and understanding what I should say so I gave up. Still surprised to see this on Steam.

"I had a hard time fitting in and understanding what I should say so I gave up."

That is basically me for real life parties.
The quest lines in this game can get pretty long and unclear as far as objectives and what to do/say goes. Luckily there are a plethora of guides to help us out now. It seems it is still in Early Access and surprisingly getting updates with more characters and such. Nothing special other than getting to retry conversations in a game that you otherwise wouldn’t be able to in the physical world.

Adelion

Hm. I checked I have found no Omega edition. Neither in my library nor in the store. If you are into achievements you should give the game another run as most of them are really easy to obtain. At least I don’t remember having much problems with any of them.

Bangledeschler

Whoops, I saw Out There: Omega Edition and my mind saw it as Out There Somewhere: Omega Edition.
I am most definitely a completionist and this definitely looked like an easy kill, though I am annoyed with the poorly worded achievement Have a plan to kill everyone you meet. I already took some time to get most of the teleporter gun based and waiting based achievements after my first run.
