When I initially had bought and played Slay the Spire, there were only two characters available, Ironclad and Silent, so once beating both, I shelved the game pending it coming out of early access and/or adding more characters. Both have since happened. So, I fired it back up. The Defect was probably the most fun of the four characters, but also the most overpowered with the element spheres giving you an added boost that definitely compensates better for the RNG than any of the other characters abilities. The Watcher on the other hand was by far the most nuanced of the four, and the most challenging as well (in my opinion). Where I think the combination of Silent and Ironclad took about ten hours with some daily challenges mixed in that probably accounted for about a third of that), I was able to finish a run with Defect after only the third or fourth try, which took about two hours. The other eight hours was solely devoted to The Watcher runs and daily challenges. If you get some really favorable RNG like I did in my final Watcher run, she actually is the most powerful character. All her combination cards really start to put her over the top towards the end.

Anyway, this game is, if anything, better than ever and easily the best card based rogue-lite out there IMO. It is just a ton of fun, and the daily challenges and mods guarantee that you’ll never run out of stuff to do. That said, I would like to see probably two more characters before they move on to the inevitable Slay the Spire 2. :)

TL:DR - Done and dusted for now.

I did also start RDR 2, and played for about an hour and a half so far. Obviously it is a great game.

I also had my first run at Don’t Die, Minerva, which is a top down roguelike, but with a bit more of a Saturday morning cartoon vibe despite it being more horror-centric. I guess it qualifies as cute horror, the type you can have your kids watch without worrying that it might get too graphics or crazy. On normal, I was finding it to be pretty easy overall. I made a careless mistake that ended my run about an hour and a half in, but I’m pretty confident this game can be completed in a sitting on easy or normal for sure. In this one, your flashlight is your weapons btw, and it’s a bit of a looter twin stick shooter, meaning you’ll find different upgrades and such as you go along.

I’ve been on a bit of a more retro kick lately (maybe not retro per se, but you know), so I went ahead and downloaded both L.A. Noire and Manhunt to go along with FTL (since they just added cheevos lol).

Finally, I used my last $10 Epic voucher on Journey to the Savage Planet. I don’t intend to wait long to jump into that, and I’m sure I’ll also jump back into Dauntless while I’m there.
