Alicemare
A pretty short game and the second one of Miwashiba I've played and as LiEat I fell in love with it. This time it was the setting I found that awesome, the dark places and the music, which created a feeling of hopelessness and sadness. There are five stories in a world referenced to a dark version of Alice in Wonderland. Most of those stories have references to fairy tales like Little Red Riding Hood (though I couldn't recognize all of them?) and I love stories like those; if in movies or books or games :) Some of the puzzles demand deep thinking and weren't so easy. There was a mathematical question once I needed hours *overdramatizing* to calculate; painted a timeline for dates and stuff only to find out that it was a trick question... Mean! You have to read really carefully to understand all those riddles. The story is very easy to miss tho and tbh I couldn't understand everything. I understood what this Alice in Wolderland world was and why the kids were there, but what happened to Allen and Teacher's story are still a mystery for me. But there's a novel to read online which should explain everything. Gotta read that soon someday!
Go! Go! Nippon! ~My First Trip to Japan~
Tbh I can't see why this VN is that high rated... Several friends recommended it to me as one of their fav VN but I couldn't really get myself to like it. I really enjoyed the scenes about Japan and it sure is a great game to learn something new about Japan. Imho it would've been far better without the side stories. I got tired about the jokes which I couldn't find funny at all (it's a rather subtle humor which I don't like) and the stereotypical girls with one of them having the biggest breasts (and of course you have to see them naked someday). At some point I got so bored at this VN I was just happy it was over soon. What I hated the most was the annoying MC. It's nice that the VN explains uncommon things about Japan and also things a lot of people already know so that anyone can learn something new but you can't tell me that a boy who's speaking Japanese fluently doesn't know a damn shit about that country!? I mean he could have at least say at some point that he already heard of anything!? The only thing about Japan he knew was that they eat sushi. Then he isn't even able to converse. Every sentence a girl made was responded with a question by repeating what she just said, calling her name or being super creatively by asking “ummmm?” I rate it average just because I at least enjoyed some facts about Japan and learning some new things. Everything else was complete rubbish.
