Golden Month Week 4: Cursed End of School Life

Last update of the month (and I’m not gonna lie, I’m starting to get a lil’ tired of playing visual novels ^^’)

I heard a lot of good things about this VN so I gave it a try and all I can say is the praise was founded. The art was pretty and the plot was interesting even if it takes it a little bit to get going. The characters were pretty interesting, from the motherly Sasa (best girl btw) to the (justifiedly) distant Miyon as well as many other characters and they will will grow on you (though Gai made me suspend my disbelief a bit from time to time at the beginning because he was way too sarcastic for a 7 years old kid (The time-skips helped mitigate this issue)).
The best part of the game were the endings. The first three endings were ok since they ranged from a “bad ending” to a “this isn’t too bad but there’s something inherently wrong with it” kind of ending, but the true ending is simply great. The feels hit me like a train loaded with 10 tons of concrete when Miyon died and got to see Sasa and the rest of people who died (as well as when we got to see her face without the mask).

BAD END

Bad End starts in a very cliched way (in a sense it reminded me of the King’s Game (https://www.anime-planet.com/anime/kings-game) anime) and it’s somewhat predictable at times but the story gets better around the second half. I also feel like this game should have been named “1000 ways to die, the VN Edition” given the different ways the MC kicks the bucket in each bad ending.
That said the game is decent and it’s easy to 100%, but you won’t miss much if you don’t play it

Technically speaking the game was superb. The character design and the backgrounds were pretty (and the chars were animated to boot!) and the soundtrack was quite decent. The game also featured a glossary on japanese terms so you felt like you were learning some new things.
That said the game failed on something essential, and that was the entertainment factor. it was a DRAG. I was so bored at one point I did what no one should do on their first run. I… I… I pressed the skip button and hold it until I finished the game and got all the achievements. It was that dull.
