Update 20: Second week of September

Second week of September and my backlog did take a nose dive since I activated some free games an steam and also decided I needed to win some shorter games on SG and got really lucky.
So my backlog will suffer because of that. But it might also be, because I’m playing several long games at the moment.

I really liked the game. So much so that I now play the DLC's, first Clash of the Clouds, then Burial at Sea.
Great range of weapons and different types of "magic" called vigors. The story is also quite nice, though a bit confusing at the beginning with the different universes and such, but it comes together nicely at the end.
I did not find the final boss fight too hard.

What a great game. I really liked every single minute I spent with it, even if some parts frustrated me a bit.

Good things:

  • graphics: for a game released 6 years ago the graphics are amazing. Really nice cutscenes.
  • boss fights: I really liked the boss fights. Most of them where challenging, though some a bit repetitive. Nice integration of the skills.

Negative things:

  • the combo system: a nice idea, but it does not work really well. Most of the times the combos do not register even though you non-stop hit them. really hard to get the long ones working correctly. Could have been a good thing if done correctly.
  • disappearing enemies: some of the leapers are only visible in direct light and can only be hit when in direct light, which is crazy since sometimes you cannot see them at all and have to fight against invisible enemies, which is frustrating.
  • memory remixes: like with the combo system, a nice idea, but badly implemented. To rewind you have to either spin the whole mouse counterclockwise or do the same with the left stick on the controller, which is a hassel if it works, but more often than not it does not work properly (either it does not rewind or wind forward at all or it jumps too far) and to find the memory glitches can be a real pain in the ass. You have to rewind and wind forward for a lond time to get all the glitches.

But as said above overall I really liked the game and can overlook the "bad" parts.

Here are the games I'm currently working on. In Bioshock Infinite I'm going for the DLC's now. Reviews will follow once I'm done with the games:
I've won 8 games this week, was gifted one as a cake day present (thanks icaio) and 6 free games I activated on steam. So that makes 15 new games and 2 beaten, meaning a +13 for my backlog this week. And +17 overall for this month :( I need to play more short games ^^
