Goals for 2020: continue being at least as responsible as last year. :) I am happy with my 2019 progress so I’ll continue treating my backlog the same way as last year; try to only buy games I want to play really soon, prioritise gifts and other wins when deciding what to play, try to participate in as many monthly themes as possible, and most importantly enjoy playing games and not force myself with games that feel like a chore. I can’t fix my “bad” buying/gaming habits from years ago, but I can continue being responsible going forward.
Favourite games I played in 2019:
- Assassin’s Creed Odyssey - My favourite AC game, I loved everything about it and really like the direction Ubisoft are taking with the new games in the series.
- Baba is You - Innovative puzzle game. Sometimes a bit frustrating in the best way possible.
- Forza Horizon 4 - More fun than it has the right to be!
- GRIS - Wow! Fun platformer that’s soooo so so stylish! Still amazed by how beautiful every level was.
- HITMAN - First Hitman game I ever played and I enjoyed it more than I expected. Shame it’s a bit short.
- Lost Ember - My favourite game in this genre. An absolutely gorgeous and enjoyable gaming experience.
- My Time At Portia - Started playing it on 15 January, had 47 hours in the game by the end of the month…
- Oxygen Not Included - Bought it in August, had 72 hours in the game by the end of the month…
- Planet Zoo - Loved playing Zoo Tycoon when I was younger, so this is exactly what I needed in my life!
- Shadow of the Tomb Raider - I love the new Tomb Raider games and this one wasn’t an exception.
- The Outer Worlds - Interesting world and companions, enjoyable gameplay.
If you don’t like Jedi Fallen Order I can take it 🙂
I don’t have it anymore, my Origin Access Premier expired (only subscribed for the game). :P Go pick it up, they must have mine lying around somewhere now!
Impressive, reaching all you goals in 2019. I’m especially impressed with the first one. It might seem the smallest, but I regularly struggle with entering the monthly theme at all. Of course you are one of the pillars of this community so you’ve got to set a good example, a responsibility I don’t have :)
It would look reeeeally bad if I didn’t do the monthly themes since I’m the one setting them up. :D Still went ahead with some themes I personally wasn’t a fan of though (like the anime one), so sometimes it was more of a pain finding something that fit the theme and was something I at least sort of wanted to play.
I try to make them as open/inclusive as possible so hopefully that will help me lure you in as often as possible this year. :)
Oh, I think they are indeed quite open and inclusive. The problem is more that I often lack good games, that fit the theme, which I also want to play right at that moment. For example, in the ongoing theme I could play:
- Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced edition. Well, that’s an 100h+ game. Do I really want to get into that right now?
- Europa Universalis IV: See above times 10.
- Pillars of Eternity: A tad shorter than BG, but still a really long game.
- Tropico Reloaded: This could actually work.
I think the theme is great and there is a wide variety to choose from, but due to my comparably small backlog full of longer games, I often don’t want to participate. All this is just to say, there is no “fault” on your side, I always enjoy the themes and browsing the corresponding reports, even if I don’t take part in them :)
Yikes, yeah that’s bad! The curse of a small, but quality backlog. :)
Same question as the fat cat above, how did you add so little games to your backlog this year  I’m not at all asking for any particular reason
Congrats on reaching all your goals, I haven’t looked at my list yet but I’m pretty sure I failed hard on that.
And only 9 out of 26 were actually bought/activated for free (Destiny 2) by me, the rest were gifts. I was a very stronkboye! But most of your additions in 2019 seemed to be gifts/wins as well, right? So you just have to sever all ties with your frens and you’ll be fine. :blobdogsweat:
 Yes… That seems simple, right?
How does one learn to add <190 games to the backlog each year? Asking for a friend :catsweat:
Your fren needs to skan da games before adding them to the backlog.
