Report #14: May 2021

Fellow assassins, this will be a short post as I only finished one game this past month. That game was a real-time strategy game, however, and they count for five other games (at least!) in my book. Ashes of the Singularity had been languishing in my backlog for almost two years before I got started. I played the single-player campaign, which tells a story about cybernetically and biologically enhanced humans that have started expanding into the universe and run into a major non-human threat. It was fairly satisfying to complete each mission, but it might have been too much strategy for me in one month… I rounded out the month by playing some Walking Dead (The New Frontier), a good one to relax with since you know that none of your choices will matter much in the end.

Good luck with your slayings (of backlog games) in June!

Definitely true! Played Ashes of the Singularity a few years ago myself and found it to be quite decent. The AI was a bit stupid iirc. And I too was burnt out a bit at the end, But overall it was an okay game :)

Yes, it’s pretty good. Had it not been a Steamgifts win, though, I think I would have taken my time and not shot for completion in one month - it might have made it more enjoyable. But I’m trying to stay on a schedule of knocking off at least one win per month, even though it sometimes turns out to be a bit of a chore…
