Weekly Update #1

Humble Bundle

I played this game only to participate in Lion’s Heart event. I got this a couple years ago (not sure when exactly) from one of Humble Bundle’s game bundles. Back then, paying only 1$ for 3 games seemed like a good idea, even if I’m not interested in actually playing them. Good thing I did it only once and then stopped.

Anyways, the game is a VN where people working in a cat cafe called A Cat’s Paw are cursed to become cats when they leave the cafe’s grounds. I’m not a VN fan, but even with that, the game was enjoyable enough. I’m not going to play it more than once to get the achievements though. That would be pretty boring. Once is enough.

Steam Summer Sale 2019

I saw this on Steam Gifts a couple days ago. It was cheap on Steam Summer Sale, and it looked like something I would enjoy, so I bought it. It’s a cutesy plant shop game where you breed plants to fulfil customer orders. The achievements are fairly easy to do, but they require that you play the game at least 2 times (and I don’t feel like playing it again right now, so I’m not going to bother with 100%).

It’s very short as well, it took me around 1.5 hours to complete the game. The other 0.5 hours is me trying to replay it for achievements and getting bored pretty quickly.

Made Progress

  • Overcooked

    7 hours playtime

    10 of 12 achievements

  • Hollow Knight

    3.5 hours playtime

    2 of 63 achievements

  • Blockwick 2

    1.2 hours playtime

    1 of 14 achievements

I’ve played Overcooked as local co-op since it’s too hard for me in singleplayer mode. We’ve made good progress–7 hours–but my friend had to leave, and it’s not certain when will she visit me next, so that game might stay as “unfinished” for a long time. We did get all of the achievements one can get without actually completing the game though, so that’s good. =D

I’m slowly making my way through Hollow Knight and Blockwick 2. Not much to say there.

Dropped

I’ve simply dropped ABZU until further notice, simply because I’m not enjoying the game play. Maybe I’ll pick it up again in the future, but for right now, I’m not planning on finishing it.

Amitte

Awh, but some VNs’ replayability is where it’s at! Your game count is extremely low (like, over ten times lower than mine), so think about it! ^^

aonrao

I’m not against replaying it later, it’s just I would get bored if I did it right now =D I’ll go through it again when I don’t remember the main story line so that I enjoy it more =)
And yeah, I’m on the lower end of BLAEO =D

Amitte

Oh yeah, I get that! But then again, there are some works which you think you don’t remember at all, but then you come back to them and right when they start you’re like “Damn… I suddenly remember everything! OH NO”, just so you know :D And I wish my backlog was as small as yours! I don’t mind it, I brought it all upon myself after all, but since pretty much all of us have the “won’t play” games… let’s say I’d do without those, at least.

aonrao

That is true!
My backlog is small because I’ve started using Steam actively only around 2017. Before that the account was sitting there, collecting dust. And even with that, I played only Stardew Valley for a year =D But you seem to be making good progress with your backlog =)
“Wont play” games are inevitable unless you’re actively deleting them from your account. No one can enjoy every single game they get =P In my case, they’re a bunch of freebies from giveaways for Free games on Steam store for a couple days.

Amitte

Oh, I know that too! I’ve registered back in 2014, but it took me until 2016 to realize it’s possible to actually buy games even if I’m not paying in my local value, lol. Steam brought that in last year or so, and I suppose it’s more comfortable now, but still, now that I use websites that track my stats, it feels weird when my account is technically 2 years older than it should be.
And yeah, I try my best! No matter where I got those games from, I paid for most of them anyway, so I wouldn’t want to let that go to waste! :D
Oh yes, I’ve recently deleted quite a few of those never-ending, Facebook game-like games I added to my account just because they were HOGs… I realized I don’t actually have time to be grinding achievements in free games when there are over 500 games I actually bought with the intent of playing! That being said, maybe I’ll feel like getting back to them one day. But I’d have to be extreeemely booored to do something like that :D

aonrao

I don’t remember when exactly Steam implemented regional pricing. My account is from 2013. I got Stardew Valley in 2017. In between I played a little bit of Thomas Was Alone and such games, but not more than 10 hours in total lol. I understand that feeling. My account also should be maybe 3 years old–definitely not 6!

You look like you’re making good progress =)

I have a couple good games on my “wont play” list because I’m keeping games like Insurgency on my account just in case someday someone I know want might to play, or I might want to play (or will get a good PC/laptop that supports larger games). I did delete a couple of those games that were given for free at one point, deciding I’m never ever going to play them. If I want them in the future, I can always buy them =P No need to crowd my backlog.

Amitte

Well, for my country it wasn’t available until last year or 2017, at least. And man, I still remember having only wishlisted stuff like Goat Simulator, because that was a game I’ve been watching people play on YouTube. I still want it, but am not sure if I would be able to run it on PC - I’d get it on PS4 instead.

Thanks! I’m just using the time I have :D

Damn, Insurgency is one of those for me too. PAYDAY 2 is kind of a nightmare as well… got it for free, but it’s… so big… and then… I launched it and… got like 8 achievements for doing god-knows-what and then… I still didn’t know how to play… :C But then again deleting licenses feels like cheating, in a way, cause websites that track your progress will list the games with revoked licenses as “removed” or “deleted” or what have you. And they’ll still count it into the overall progress, I think :/

aonrao

I only use BLAEO to track my progress and it allows you to delete games, so I don’t mind it =D

Amitte

That’s single-handedly the best feature! (Except when it forces you to remove a game you do own, but Steam decided it wasn’t going to count it as a legit game anymore.) There’s no pile of shame, like on completionist.me :c

aonrao

Yeah I hate that “profile features limited” thing. I didn’t know it was a thing before joining BLAEO, and I have a couple of those on my backlog–it’s very frustrating to not be able to add them to my list!

Amitte

Well, you can’t add them to your backlog, but you can still log them thanks to this website - the only downside is that you have to input most of the data yourself. I’ve been doing this ever since I started posting regularly, I’ve completed a bunch of those games by now.

aonrao

I discovered that site today, a couple hours earlier actually. When I first made this post I was trying to do it by copying the code from the browser and editing… obviously didn’t work =P
And then I fixed my posts with the website lol

Amitte

Oh yeah, I should have known lol. Well, that’s how I made my first post too, because there was some kind of introductory post that described how to copy code, but by now I can’t find it and thus I only know how to edit my ABC lists. Doing that with game boxes would take much longer anyway.

aonrao

I didn’t see that introduction post, but it quickly became evident that copying code isn’t sustainable for me =D

Amitte

Yeah, it’s tough unless you know what goes where. Although for the ABC lists I’m making, it’s not hard, it’s just tedious :/

I played ABZU for about 45 minutes and got bored too. It’s not enjoyable.

aonrao

Yeah. I got it because someone recommended it to me, but bad choice. =(

Jaded

Hey aonrao! Nice progress :) You’re pretty close to completing Overcooked!

aonrao

Thank you =)
It’s unfortunate that my friend won’t visit for a while, Overcooked was going great! =D
