    I really fell for this game. This Is the Police is a game about managing your police station, trying to get 500k cash. There are choices to make in this game which doesn't affect the story but your gameplay. You can chose either to be corrupt or good and both is followed with consequences.

    I had to play this game twice because I was so terribly bad at this on my first run. Half of the time I didn't have any idea what the heck I was doing. And when I finally got the hang of it, it was already too late. Still this may be the first gaming experience where I sucked terribly and still enjoyed it. It was just too funny. So my cops died in any way possible. They never managed to fulfill a job I gave them and got themselves killed. I ended up with less than ten cops overall. City Hall wasn't satisfied with my work and cut my salary every two days and my officers hated me too. So they started to testify against me. Every. Day. At first I bought the names who testified against me and bought their silence. The next day I bought the names and because I had no money left for buying them, I had to kill them. The next day I was so broke I couldn't even afford buying the names. But then there was a mission which required my full shift to fulfill and... they all died because of an explosion. I had thee officers left in the other shift. Three. And I thought, well hopefully the two guys who wanted to testify against me are dead too at least. Buuut nope. They were under the three living officers...! Yup, that's bad luck. So City Hall cut my salary by 90%! I ended up earning ~60$ per week. I already gave up to that 500k goal. But then story happens and my last three officers didn't came to work, I ended up with no one left and got in jail. Game over :'D

    Okay, my second try wasn't as bad as this. No one died anymore and no one testified against me anymore. Probably because I was the best chef they could imagine. The only thing that bugged me was that at the very last day City Hall took 25% of my bank account, causing that I had only 490k. In the end it didn't matter, but it still bugged me a lot.

    I enjoyed TITP pretty much. But I must admit that it was a bit too long. 180 days are a long time, with nearly every day being the same. Reading calls and send your officers over to the crime. So the very last days drag on forever. Thanks to the story officers died a lot due to a car crash, at least one per day but most of the time it was two dead cops per day. Which is very frustrating as the incoming calls were a lot more difficult and required more cops to send over. I missed more than 50% of all incoming calls because my department was empty, offenders fled, civilians were killed and I couldn't to a damn thing about that.

    What I really loved in this game was it's music. Every day you choose a song to play during your shift. And I loved the idea of the police chief listening to his favorite jazz songs. It gave the game more love and more feeling for it and the chief you play.

    The ending was very unsatisfying sadly. I won't spoil anything but it left me empty. Probably because TITP even though it's fiction tries too hard to be realistic.

    TITP 2 came out recently but I guess it will take time until I add this to my backlog too. I guess I need a break from management games :^)

    Deponia

    My feelings are really mixed about this. I played Deponia already some years ago but only the beginning. I don't know; I wasn't really interested in it's style, just had played Edna & Harvey (which I loved!) and Deponia was a huge letdown after that. The puzzles aren't as logical as they should be, the humor wasn't as funny for me and I didn't like the main character Rufus as I may should have to finish this game. So I only played it for a few hours and decided to stop.

    Somehow I recently decided it was time to give it another try. I thought it was better this time, but still not as good to wow me. It was okay. I still think it's not that funny and it still annoyed me at some points. But it was okay. Rufus wasn't that dislikeable anymore and somehow I just wanted to finish this, see how this journey would drag me into. It also was fun as long as I wasn't forced to use a walkthrough. I also like it's art. But still... I feel so mixed. I didn't knew it's a triology until just now so I was really pissed off at the end. I hate to have to play another game to get a real ending, seriously. And I still don't know anything about Deponia or about Rufus' dad. The game throws you into it's universe without explaining a damn thing. You get some things by yourself tho, which is at least something.

    I don't know how I should rate Deponia, if I think it's worth 3 hearts or less or maybe even more. I also don't know if I want to play the other two games (probably not if I have to play both for a good ending). Wellp.

    I can't describe how I just love this game! It was pretty fun although it didn't had the best story or characters. The gameplay was fun enough to make me addicted to it. Sometimes it was a bit frustrating when I dug that dumb that I couldn't make my way out anymore and had to destroy myself (which costs 50% of your cash T^T) buuuut after getting the ability to double jump this problem never happened anymore and I was able to dig all my way down to every gem buried there >:D

    I can't wait to play the second one. I heard it shall even be better \o/

    Dead in Bermuda

    8 survivors are stranded on an island in Bermuda after their plane crashes. And now it's your task to help them survive by managing their daily tasks, split the meals, keep the fire warm etc. Another game this month which totally got me hooked up. Every time I started this one I wasn't able to quit again for hours. You know... “Just one more day!”

    I had to start over once. I was on day >90 and wasn't getting anywhere. I never had resources and even if I was searching for wood and rope all day long I had to spend all of those for repairs. Therefore I also had no resources for crafting and it may have worked out for a while... at some point every survivor would become sick. It was a hard decision to accept my failure and start over after so many hours I spent but it was the right one. My next try was easy as hell. I stopped focusing on everything else than researching and this was the best winning strategy: never stop researching. I had all tools which were necessary on day ~20-30 and after that at some days I didn't even know what to do with all 8 characters as I didn't needed that much anymore. They never were hungry again, I ended up with that many resources I didn't need to check for them frequently. Everything went smoothly and nice and they didn't even become sick anymore (never ever had to use the infirmary).

    What I'd like to know what triggers the events. On my first try two passengers fell in love with each other, on my last try they didn't even talk with each other. I read online that they could even kill each other! Never happened to me tho.

    Dead in Bermuda let me feel like I was playing my own season of Lost. There were mysteries in the jungle and the characters are stereotypical like we have seen in Lost too. There's the leader, the fat one, a family, a psycho who knows all about surviving, the doctor... And because I'm a huge fan of the series, I just had to love Dead in Bermuda, right?

    Right, except for the ending (after reading my old reviews I guess I'm nearly never happy with the endings lol). It was rubbery. Really, really rubbery. I had nothing to do except for keep searching the jungle, finally found the last boss and then... I clicked for several minutes the same options over and over again. See, everything in this game has a success rate based on skill points of each character. And at the end you have to be successful every time in a row. Which was totally fine because my character had 80% at each option but the very last option was only successful by 20%... So had to click. And to click. And to click. And because they managed to fail far more often than they should with 80% it took already some time to get to the final message with only 20%. Which failed for a lot of time of course... This was not as well thought through I guess. And after finally winning the game would still not be over. And then there finally was the end. Which was not satisfying AT ALL. I was so mad at first I wanted to give it a really bad rating but after some time thinking I guess I had some pretty neat hours with it, fun and I enjoyed it almost always. And the end isn't out of place at all or something it was just unsatisfying for me in personal. Which doesn't make it a bad game. It's still a good game if you like management games like this one. And maybe I will consider to play Dead in Vinland :^)

    The Walking Dead – Final Season

    Oh man, where to start... The Walking Dead may be one of my favorite franchises ever. I played the first season when it just came out and loved it and it still moves me when I think about it's ending. Right after that I played Wolf Among Us and decided that Telltale Games are one of the best companies I've ever had the chance to play their games. I don't care that their choices doesn't matter. Their games were about storytelling and gosh they did master that. Choices might don't change the story but they change your main character, they change your feelings towards them.

    TWD is all about ethics and morale in a dystopian world. It doesn't matter if the character you just saved dies anyways because that never was the point. The point is that you have to choose between their life and death. And you don't have the time to think that carefully over like in Life is Strange, you have to chose fast and then deal with your choice. And probably left you thinking “Could I have prevented that?” And that's what got me so hooked up with their games.

    So now let's talk about The Final Season. After the third season I almost thought that the franchise is dead for good. I was so bored with all five episodes because the only character that mattered anymore was Clementine. Yes, I know, new characters aren't bad or anything and sometimes you have to get over it but that's kind of hard if you know her for two other seasons and have to decide which character to help. There's no real choice anymore because it will be definitely her. So I truly thought “That's it. The Walking Dead is finally dead”. But then they released the Final Season and already halfway through the first episode it felt as good as the first season. Clem is an awesome character, we have seen going through tough shit and finally growing up. But not only that she is gorgeous, everything else was as good as it should've always been. Every character is likable, understandable. The relationship between her and AJ is outstanding like it was with her and Lee. The visuals are great, the story, the facial expressions, the cutscenes... They even added some kind of combat system which may wasn't complex or anything but I failed in some scenes several times in a row either way :^) There are collectibles and you even have the choice to date/flirt with some of the new characters (also with a female character and gosh they are so damn cute??). There wasn't action all the time, e.g. they play a card game for a pretty long time with only talking and it didn't bored me to death, it put more depth in Clementine and her past and I enjoyed that. They brought back a character from season 1 I really was surprised to see again and they mentioned Lee a lot of times. I still have those goosebumps over my skin.

    After hearing that Telltale is dead and the game probably won't ever get finished I was really mad. I wanted to ask for a refund and was furious about the way they treated not only their customers but their employees. Finally I decided to play the second episode however and every feeling I had in the first one was back just one minute later in the game. It's so well made, I just can't be mad anymore, I even don't want a refund anymore because I do not regret buying this. I'm glad there are at least two episodes I was able to play and yes, I'm sad. Like really really sad. But to stay positive; the next days I can think for myself how the story would have continued. And! Because we all know that Telltale likes drama (maybe even more than I do :^) I now have the chance to choose my own happy ending (seriously I don't think that Telltale would have had one in mind...). And maybe someday we'll get to know theirs. Until then I guess it's safe to set this one to beaten.

Congrats on the progress. If you liked Steamworld Dig, you’re sure in for a treat with the second, it’s everything but better.

I’m so bummed about the final season of the walking dead, I really wanted to play it but now seeing it will never get finished I dunno if I even want to buy it. But clem :(

TWD FS has been removed from every shop so I don’t think buying is an option anymore and I wouldn’t recommend it anyways. There are a lot of potential partners who want to finish episode 3 and 4 but I also don’t think that it will be the same :< But maybe you can play it for free somehow with family sharing or something?
LiS2 is… ugh. Forced and rushed drama without an actual story but with political issues instead? Until now it’s dissappointing but well, let’s wait for further episodes.

Oh, I thought it was still available to buy on steam, as it was last week after the whole debacle happened, and people were pitchforking about it. I’ll probably check a let’s play at some point, I’m just sad that Clem’s story will never be concluded. And also that all those people at Telltale just got sacked like that, that goes without saying.

I think i’ll wait for LiS2 that all the episodes are out, which i usually prefer to play all together anyway, but it’s sad to hear it’s already a bit disappointing. Thanks for the feedback though

I read your Walking Dead Final Season review a couple of days ago and kept this page open in a tab until I could get myself together enough to respond to it - we haven’t gotten to playing the second episode yet and I don’t know when we will. It’s still pretty raw. I really did enjoy reading your write up. I agree with your comment above that it’s good the Last Season was pulled from stores - your money wouldn’t be going to the people that deserve it, anyway. I’ve even seen a tweet from a dev on the game saying ‘I want you to enjoy the episode and appreciate the work we put into it, but I honestly can’t tell you to spend money on it’.

What a fuckin shitshow that it ended up like this.

They just announced that Skybound Games will complete Episodes 3 and 4. I only know this company for Slime Rancher but I’m so happy for the employees! I really hope Skybound will treat them good and that they won’t only hiring 1-2 men so the money will go to the right people. And I’m excited \o/ I srsly wouldn’t have guessed that.

Both games are really fun so far. And this month some great games will be released on Switch - my backlog is growing so fast~

Yes! I did see that.
I was immediately skeptical, but that lightened when I saw that they’re planning to hire back as many Telltale employees as they can. I really hope it works out - I want them to be secure and for them to finish out their work.
I’m crossing my fingers hard and keeping an eye on it…!
