    Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc

    Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc

    27 hours playtime

A darker and more stylish Phoenix Wright with weird minigames and a dash of dating sim. I can understand why this is such a big cult game. The idea of each student being an “Ultimate” of something creates clear boundaries of personality and uniqueness right of the bat giving you a decent idea of who people are without having to spend a bunch of (limited) time with them. Interactions with students not only give you a chance to get to know them better, but ultimately help you throughout the game with various skills acquired. The minigames themselves are relatively straight forward at first, but new mechanics are added so they never grow stale.
Though each case has their own twists and turns, the game overall holds your hand for quite a long time (as if you didn’t know anything) and some mysteries are pretty obvious as they can shove information in your face. Despite that, your character is quite useless to figuring this out.
All in all, this game is a fun ride that has enough twists to keep you unsure of the guilty and enough characters that you are bound to find some endearing.
Lewd? There is some suggestive dialogue, but nothing outright lewd.
Recommend? Absolutely, I loved the stylized VN and the characters that came with it.
Favorite Characters? Kyoko Kirigiri, Mondo Owada

Devil May Cry 4 (Special Edition)

Devil May Cry 4 (Special Edition)

    16 hours playtime

With the special edition of DMCV coming out soon (for PC) I thought it appropriate to finally do my runs of the special edition for four. I gotta say, I always appreciate games that let you do playthroughs with different characters. You don’t need to have unique levels to them, just let me play as someone with different moves and skills. Like previous (and all future Special Editions), you get to play as Vergil (loved antagonist and brother of protagonist Dante). To put icing on that cake is you get to play the femme fatale Trish and Lady as well which is both unexpected and amazing. Each character brings something new to the table with Lady being the most unique as she is the only full non-demon. There is also a new mode called Legendary Dark Knight in which there are a ridiculous, yet satisfying, amount of enemy spawns to fill the room.
All in all, if you loved DMC4 already, you’ll love this.
Lewd? Between Gloria and Dante… just a bit. Fairly mild though.
Recommend? DMC4 was a great addition to the series and to hack and slash genre in general. Very much recommend.

    Duke Nukem Forever

    Duke Nukem Forever

    6 hours playtime

Now… I heard this was bad… but boy was it bad. Sure, it had a lot of cool little details that you could do (drink from a fountain, use the bathroom, etc.), but none of that matters if the core game itself is atrocious. Sure, modernize the old boomer shooters, but at least make it fun. The gun play, not only the main point of it but is the worst part of it. Very few, if at all, guns are actually enjoyable to use, combat in general is a joke. The fact that explosives are the only things that work on bosses is simply a disgusting concept for something like Duke Nukem. Maybe the gunplay went downhill after investing time into non-shooting levels. I.e. matchbox car-like driving segments, becoming mini and doing platforming, etc. On a slight positive note, Duke is still very much the overly 80’s action hero he always was. Complete with one liners.
Lewd? Quite, some scenes of nudity (you literally go to a strip club), suggestive actions, dirty talk, etc.
    Recommend? No, god no.

    Halo: The Master Chief Collection

    Halo: The Master Chief Collection

    179 hours playtime

    Halo ODST
Easily my least favorite of the Halo series. The characters have too much personality and introduces one of my least favorite enemy types as an important plot to the game (the engineers). Though the combat is pretty similar to 3, not that I am huge fan of that one either, the fact that a singular bullet not only does most of your health (understandable), but then everything goes red as you have to deal with your character panting heavily until some time of not being hit. As one may expect… this may as well be fairly constant. I just did not like this game through and through. I have no opinions of the multiplayer whatsoever.
    Lewd? No.
Recommend? Not really, I could easily put a full pass on this one.

    Halo 4
This one… is also pretty bad. 2nd least favorite Halo so far. Though I liked the ability to just sprint as well as face a new enemy… the story overall was mediocre. For me, especially, putting in a god like being into the fray, where it wasn’t particularly needed (similar to that of the Assassins Creed games) it just is really lackluster. Crawlers were an enjoyable enemy type to deal with while the guardians ability to get shields back and regenerate from death got to be excessive at points. Most of the new weapons were not great and avoided using 90% of them.
Lewd? Cortana is the curviest and pretties she has ever been… but nothing really lewd past that.
Recommend? No, Halo has taken a turn for the worst and I simply do not see the series coming back in full.

    Left 4 Dead

    Left 4 Dead

    5 hours playtime

A bit of a classic 4 player mob survival game. Some friends felt like playing and so I decided to pick it up. Still quite enjoyable despite playing so much of it back in the day. Though we relearned that “The Sacrifice” can be pretty terrible to beat successfully (we were able to go advanced difficulty for all campaigns except for this). To give broad strokes, the game has several campaigns that involves you to get from point A to point B safehouse while dealing with waves of general infected as well as some tactical special infected. There is a range of guns, throwables, and med kits. Try to keep you and your teammates alive while you get to the end and survive the final onslaught.
    Lewd? Not even a little.
Recommend? Very much so. Though the 2nd is generally a more polished version of the first, the original allows a simpler play experience as you don’t have to worry about the added special infected or melee weapons (which is kind of nostalgic and nice).

    Lowglow

    Lowglow

    3 hours playtime

A somewhat relaxing physics game that requires you to get three consecutive glow droplets into the goal by drawing lines for them to bounce off of along with the various geometry layout. You only get so many lines, plus one additional gold line if you have not already expended them in previous levels. The game is visually pleasing as it has a sort of neon glow to it with various and distinct colors. The ringing sound can be pleasing and relaxing as well… assuming you are not getting stuck and the droplets are not bouncing too frequently at times. There is a small bit of story, a bit of typical light vs dark, but it is fairly in the background and doesn’t get in the way of the game play.
    Lewd? Nope
Recommend? Yes, generally a relaxing experience with enjoyable puzzles.

    Poker Night at the Inventory

    Poker Night at the Inventory

    2 hours playtime

It’s poker with some somewhat known characters (Max from Sam and Max, Tycho from Penny Arcade, Heavy from Team Fortress 2, and StrongBad from Strongbad [I assume that his name]). I really don’t have much ties to ¾ of the cast, so this probably didn’t appeal to me quite as much as the second in the series. All in all it is just poker. The more annoying bit is that you have a chance for a character to offer an item instead of money, but the moment someone else knocks them out they get the item (for the match and happens frequently) and defeating them doesn’t win you it either (which doesn’t make much sense).
Lewd? Concerning dialogue, but not much past that.
Recommend? Meh, not so much. As stated, it is just Poker with some characters. I’d recommend Poker Night 2 much over this one.

    Resident Evil 6

    Resident Evil 6

    20 hours playtime

When I originally played this, I thought it was okay. Maybe it was just the fact that it was something new to experience or I simply didn’t care at the time but replaying it showed me how bad it really was. Continuing to remove itself from the survival horror origins, but not quite the action game that was 4 and 5 leaves it in an unfavorable place. You no longer have the potential to change your loadouts but restricted to a very small number of weapons you gain through (and restricted to) each story. Despite no longer being survival horror, it is quite surprising the limit you have for your inventory. It’s quite possible to run out of room and not even have each ammo type for your available weapons. At this point I would expect very little to no restrictions to inventory. To make matters worse, your weapons feel very weak as taking down simple zombies can feel quite unsatisfying. I would relate it to shooting a BB gun instead of an assault rifle. The campaigns (with a slight exception to Leon’s) were quite terrible.
An interesting concept it took was that not only could you play co-op to have someone play as your partner, but in certain parts of the story when you cross paths with other characters, they could be other players as well. The effect wasn’t too strong, but a neat idea that is used in later Capcom games as well.
    Lewd? Not really.
Recommend? Cannot honestly recommend this to action shooters or fans of the series.

    Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City

    Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City

    8 hours playtime
    no achievements

Oh, what could have been. A pretty neat idea where instead of being a survivor of the Raccoon City incident, you are instead a group of mercenaries hired by Umbrella to take care of various targets/information. You have a group of 4 where each character has their own specialties and skills and can equip any weapon you unlock to. You will face various scenarios where you must complete your objective and see the events of Resident Evil 2 and 3 take place throughout your mission. Though you have a wide arrange of skills, you can only equip one which feels really unsatisfying. Understandably, you do not want to make the game too easy, but many of the skills were not good enough to use on their own. The weapons were pretty lackluster and the controls/aiming system were fairly terrible. Certain enemies seemed to have some degree of magnetism to their attacks making it seem somewhat impossible to dodge and frustrating.
    Lewd? No.
Recommend? I really wish this could have been something great, but it is not something I can recommend (sadly).

    Rock of Ages 2

    Rock of Ages 2

    4 hours playtime

The sequel to Rock of Ages 1 and it keeps rolling along with the main mechanics of the first. This time you find yourself as Atlas who is quite sick of carrying the world. In an attempt to trick Zeus/God he accidentally drops the world and picks up Sisyphus (MC of RoA 1) boulder and jumps into Earth to hide. It is here he runs into legendary opponents (both real and fictional) from across time. As stated, the idea of rolling your boulder to break your opponents gate is very much the same. Though they have many returning obstacles to build, they have switched up some of the effects to be better suited (cows are no longer a blocker, but instead stick to your boulder causing it to roll abnormally). The maps are decent and can offer a wide range of ways to roll, though it felt weird to have to slow down so much to traverse some of them. The game retains much of it’s weird humor (which again is somewhat remindful of Monty Python’s Holy Grail).
The greatest improvement by far is the boss battles. The boss battles in the first were quite boring and annoying, while the latest have a bit more going for it as they can be more fluid and action based.
    Lewd? No
    Recommend? Yes.

    Viscera Cleanup Detail: Shadow Warrior

    Viscera Cleanup Detail: Shadow Warrior

    56 minutes playtime

An expansion and standalone of the Viscera Cleanup Detail game based on the reboot of Shadow Warrior. Though the environment looks nice, I was a little disappointed as there only seemed to be human remains, and Shadow Warrior deals with demonic Asian spirits as well… which were not seen at the scene. Still it is more cleaning and generally just more of the same, though it was much bigger than the usual venues, it didn’t seem to be quite as dirty as the others. The biggest plus is that it was easy to complete, only two achievements and very acquirable. Your character says lines from the protagonist of the Shadow Warrior game which gets quickly annoying. Recommend turning sounds down.
    Lewd? Nope
Recommend? Eh, if you want more Viscera to cleanup then it’s probably not half bad. However, make sure to get it cheap.

    A-men

    A-men

    3 hours playtime

Every time I try to load the first level it crashes. I could really care less to try to get it to work as it seems like very few people have. Honestly, I’m a little relieved to just knock something out of my library. Doesn’t seem like this is going to be getting support anytime soon.
    Lewd? Probably not.
    Recommend? Definitely not.

    A-Men 2

    A-Men 2

    3 hours playtime

First one didn’t work, so this one probably doesn’t either, plus no point in playing the sequel if I haven’t played the original.
    Lewd? Probably not.
    Recommend? Definitely not.

    Gunstar Heroes
A game recommended by one of my co-streamers as he had fond memories of it. It plays a lot like Metal slug as you will be running and gunning through your levels. What makes this special is two things: gun combinations and judo. Your character can have up to two weapon types from a total of four different kinds of weapons. You can use each weapon separately or combine them to get a different effect/damage. This not only means you can get wild combinations, but also combine the same weapon type to get better versions of your favorites. The second specialty of this game is that not only can you shoot but can body slam or judo throw your enemies. This is surprisingly effective as it the body slam has a fairly high DPS. The throw can interrupt enemies, give some breathing room, and works on most bosses. You will get to pick stages to complete with their own sets of bosses and level theme. Completing each stage will earn you one of the power crystals and gaining all crystals will get you to the end game.
Overall, this game was a pretty interesting gem, but slightly flawed to awkward controls. I’d say overall it breaks pretty average as some weapons don’t work the way they were intended, and some fights/levels are a little ridiculous and/or lacking.
    Lewd? Nope
Recommend? I would say this just passes as a recommend for an old school Metal Slug-like with some flair.

    Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory
As one of my favorite series with some of the greatest music to belong to a series, this was a must buy. This game not only serves as a way to play a rhythm game while listening to the score of the series, but also adds, a very minimum, to the story and what is coming next in the KH series. Almost every song in the KH series is included, even the pop openings such as “Simple and Clean” and “Sanctuary” by Hikaru Utada.
The controls are a bit different from most mainstream rhythm games as the base notes are not tied to just one button, but three buttons. To explain you can press any one of those three buttons and the game will accept it. However, if notes come simultaneously then you will need to press multiple of these buttons at the same time. There are other note types that still require other button presses including abilities, jumping, gliding, and directional. It was a bit weird that it had a more of a simplistic approach, but it worked. My only grief is that I played it on the Switch and am not fond of the controller for it.
The game has you select worlds/battles (as you unlock them) grouped by the game they are from in the series to play the songs on the difficulty you select and can complete challenges to unlock synthesis material (craft songs, items, unlockable profile cosmetics/collectibles, etc.), items (help you in songs), and levels for your team. You can unlock multiple notable teams from the series (Sora Donald Goofy, Terra Aqua Ventus, etc.) which have their own stats and growth, but don’t’ really affect the single player aside from HP.
You will not only play through general songs where you fight general enemies, but also experience boss battles in a dive mode. These battles will not only do the usual rhythm gameplay, but certain notes will be attacks in which depending on how well you execute them depends on if you get hit a little, a lot, or not at all. Though your eyes will likely be on the notes, the animations from the enemies and the background scenery are truly amazing and great depictions of the KH levels.
The game also has a multiplayer mode with either versus (with and without opponent attacks) and co-op mode. Additionally, if you want to take a break, you can listen to your unlocked songs through a jukebox, view movies from in game cut-scenes or music videos from the dive songs.
This game does everything well for a rhythm game and for fans of the KH series that love the music. My only issues is that I wish there were more boss battles (at least one per game of the series (if not more)) and that the teams should be customizable (equip various keyblades and have the options for the characters to equip costumes).
    Lewd? Nope
Recommend? Yes, fans of rhythm games and the KH series should love this equally as it caters to both.

    Super Metroid
Third instalment in the series and fairly standard as far as gameplay goes. Ridley steals your Metroid baby and you have to go Liam Neeson on him and his crew. The gameplay overall is pretty solid and most of the navigation is pretty straight forward. I had a pretty sour time for a bit as I somehow managed to skip past an upgrade and then was led by a friend to the water area where my suffering began (an upgrade is very much needed to deal with water/sand traversal). It was in this game I faced the hardest boss in the series, challenging but respectable. There are also hidden mechanics that the game will secretly teach you if you pay attention as they are fairly important to getting upgrades and making traversal generally easier. My biggest issue is there is a point where you are forced take a killing blow multiple times without actually dying. It’s fairly scripted, yet if your health is too low… you will just die and have to do the fight all over again. All in all, I enjoyed this game quite a bit.
    Lewd? Nope
    Recommend? Yes.

    Metroid Fusion
A highly reputable game in the series that does not disappoint. Overall, it is a standard Metroid game as you will go through areas to unlock abilities to allow more exploration and combat abilities. After her previous missions, it seems Samus has been infected with the X parasite and lost all of her previous abilities. Forever changed and now imbued with the X and Metroid Cells, Samus has fundamentally evolved and must hunt down the remaining X parasites… but she’s not the only one who’s hunting these grounds.
Unfortunately, and as usual, I felt the Gameboy Advance limited some of the potential this game had due to a lack of buttons (or at least weird button assignments). For instance, in Super Metroid you had a button for aiming diagonally up and another for diagonally down. In Fusion, instead you only have one that goes up and you have to move to make it go down. This may not seem bad at first. However, considering aiming down is tied to the same d-pad as movement this can cause slight issues. Overall the combat is great, enemies are varied, and the introduction of the X parasite creates interesting scenarios when dealing with enemies. However, this game has one of the most difficult boss fights of the series and the final boss is relatively… lackluster compared to some of the others. Of course, I feel the boss before the final is usually the most memorable in Metroid.
The overworld is by far the easiest to navigate as you now have more of a hub to get to each area rather than going through maze-like tunnels to get between areas. On that note, save and refill areas are also located at the entrances of each area giving a quality of life upgrade to the series. Navigation points have been included so that you have an idea where to go most of the time. Additionally, if you are in a room with a secret your map will have an open circle to identify as much and will fill once collected. There were very few points where I found myself entirely confused on where to go next or how to proceed.
Compared to the previous titles, this easily has the most story plugged into it. Progress through the game and elevator rides can cue a long set of soliloquy from Samus on her situation with her CO. The navigation rooms will also have Samus interacting with her CO that will tell her objectives, provide various information, and general dialogue. I personally did not care for all the additional dialogue and mostly wanted to play the game as it can be a bit of a pause for that. However, it’s not so in your face that it gets entirely in the way.
Lewd? Tall strong Amazonian woman that needs no lewd.
Recommend? Yes, this game is easily one of the best in the series as it stays true to the series roots while adding quality of life implementations.
