Wake the **** up samurai, we have a game city to burn

Catching up for the months I missed this year before my April post. Luckily I did not have too much to cover.

    Borderlands GOTY

After playing the various sequels it is quite difficult to enjoy the original game quite as much as I once did. There are simply a lack of quality life options and a quantity of generally bland dialogue and gameplay. Still, it is an enjoyable experience and recommended to those new to the series.

Recommend? Yes, more so for those who are looking to dive into the series.

    Cyberpunk 2077

A bit of a mess release for a quite hyped game. Despite a lot of hate this game release, I still quite enjoyed the game. Various visual bugs were annoying but did not take much away from the experience. The only time I faced a game breaking bug was during the final mission where an exploded tank made it impossible for me to proceed without loading a previous save. Since then there have been quite a few patches slowly fixing this game. I’m quite excited to try another playthrough in the future once everything truly balances out.

Lewd? Very much so There’s a penis size option for every gender

Recommend? Despite the outcome, if you can get past the initial hype, it is still an enjoyable game with great dialogue and decent combat mechanics.

    Deep Rock Galactic

    7 hours playtime

4-player objective game with character classes dealing with mining, guns, and dwarves. The feel of this game felt quite similar to that of Payday. Suffice to say, the game is alright, but I simply could not get into it.

Lewd? Nope, only Rock and Stone.
Recommend? Generally, no, but it’s not to say it is not bad. Simply not my thing.

    Dino D-Day

    Dino D-Day

    3 hours playtime

Dinosaurs, Military, World War. This is the weird combination of a multiplayer based game where dinosaurs team up with both the Allies and the Axis. Surprisingly enough, there was still a game or two available, but otherwise a dead game. From my experience, the Axis raptors seemed very strong and hard to combat with most infantry on the Allies side.

    Lewd? Nope
    Recommend? Dead game = nope.

    Guns of Icarus Online

    Guns of Icarus Online

    4 hours playtime

The game is dead and could only complete the tutorial. Really can’t say much after this.

    Recommend? Dead game = nope.

    FTL: Faster Than Light

    FTL: Faster Than Light

    14 hours playtime

Difficult space rogue-like that has you manage your crew to various systems (shields, weapons, flight, etc.) as you must go through various space systems to the final boss while avoiding your pursuers. The game has quite a surprising amount of mechanics such as letting the vacuum of space take out the oxygen of rooms on fire to put them out or suffocate your enemies. Find scrap to repair your ship, buy crew members, or new weapon/technical systems. As you progress through the game, you can unlock additional starting ships/crews to spice up your playthroughs (assuming you manage to complete the game which took me several tries).

    Lewd? Nope
Recommend? Yes, be the captain of your own ship and traverse space, the final frontier.

    Party Hard

    Party Hard

    4 hours playtime

I really don’t have much to say about this. A bit of a Hitman-like game where you must slowly assassinate each party without being noticed. The kill setups were a little more lackluster and limited than what was expected. A lot of levels were reduced to excessive waiting as I needed the population to work to my needs.

    Lewd? Nope, but quite violent.
Recommend? Not really, it turned out to be more tedious than enjoyable.

There is no game: Jam Edition 2015

There is no game: Jam Edition 2015

    24 minutes playtime

Essentially a demo for There is No Game: Wrong Dimension. The crux, there is no game… unless you have anything to say about it. It’s you versus the narrator as you try to make a game out of his… not game. It’s comical, weird, and filled with puzzles.

    Lewd? Nope

Recommend? Yes, a good chance to test out your want to play the full game (I plan on getting it sometime in the future).

In my opinion Borderlands 1 was really great at the time (apart from the ending, which was disappointing even back then), but as you say, it wouldn’t be as enjoyable today, once you’ve played Borderlands 2…

Dino D-Day sounds and looks (weird) unique :D

edit: damn, what’s the markup for strikethrough again?

Bangledeschler

We are of the same mind for Borderlands 1.

D-day is certainly something I didn’t expect. I would have like to dee what the natches looked like when this game was more allive.

Strikethrough is two tilde at the beginning and end. ~~

Vito

Thanks! I tried different stuff, but did not think of doubling the tildes
