Mid-February Update!

Well it’s been a good minute since I actually beat a game, but I’m getting back on track! It’s been a good month. My anniversary with my boyfriend just passed and my birthday is coming up. So I decided to celebrate by playing some games I’ve been looking forward to. I also beat Breath of the Wild on the Switch, which took most of my time. I won’t review it cause it’s not on steam, but it’s really good. If you’re interested then of course play it!

Disco Elysium

Man I love rpgs that let me make my own choices and explore at my own will. Disco Elysium is no exception.

Disco Elysium is a heavy text based rpg (no combat) where you play a detective who must use your skills to solve a murder. Along the way you'll meet a lot of interesting people with a lot of detailed lore of this alternate world.

First things first, Disco Elysium is heavy on skills. By investing in these skills (which are more like personality traits), you can totally create the detective you want. You want to be goofy, serious, crazy, strong, smart, an addict, a jerk, a saint, etc. You name it, you can be it. Combine skills and traits and you you're detective will never be like another persons. Personally I went the boring route and made an eccentric but smart detective who is trying to redeem his past actions.

Unlike most rpgs where you want to spend your skills right away, Disco elysium rewards you for holding on to your skills. If you fail skill checks that let you progress through the story, side missions, or overall details, you can upgrade that skill and try again. Holding onto your skills to pass the white checks is the best move.

The game also has fantastic characters, especially your partner who is with you for most of the game. I won't go into any detail with the story or characters to avoid spoilers. There are so many ways the story can go so multiple playthroughs are probably encouraged, although I'm going to stick to my one playthrough for now.

Disco Elysium is VERY text heavy so keep that in mind. If you get bored reading for endless hours, it might not be for you. There is no real combat so it's mostly making choices, doing detective work and reading. Lots of reading. If you love amazingly written and rich detailed dialogue and worlds, then you will definitely enjoy the game. The game rewards weird and obscure dialogue and choices, and the writing reflects on that.

There's nothing else I can say without spoilers. The game isn't perfect but its better then a lot of AA games I've played lately. It's very impressive for the people that made it. If you enjoy text heavy, choice-based rpgs then Disco Elysium is a no-brainer! I recommend it on sale or full price.

Higurashi When They Cry Hou - Ch.7 Minagoroshi

Here we are at the seventh chapter in this crazy series. If you've made it this far, you know what to expect. If you haven't, then I'll still keep this review vague.

Ch 7 Is another answer arc and this chapter provides more answers then we've seen so far. It mostly follows Rika Ferude's point of view. Before this chapter, chapter 3 was my favorite story of the series. This chapter is similar but enhances it in every way. This is by far my new favorite chapter.

Minagoroshi gives us great character development, emotional moments, and a lot of long awaited answers. It makes it to my favorite game list along with Disco Elysium.

Apparently there is only one more game in the series, so let's hope it ends on a high note!

If you've played this far then it's an easy recommendation full price. If you haven't, then I'd start with the first one of course. It has a slow and boring start, but keep going and you'll get invested.

So there's no much to say about this one. It's cheap so I don't want to be too harsh. It's about 15-30 minutes of "random LOL" humor. It def reminded me of the early 2000s. There's not much to the game other then random (pretty cringy) humor. if you like achievements, I got them all without trying so it's easy.

It's about the price of a mcdonalds hamburger… so you can get this or a hamburger.

Huh…I don’t have Disco Elysium, but I might have to bump it up higher on my wishlist based on your review. And enjoy LiS2! It’s pretty much at the top of my wishlist. I just finished Before the Storm so I’m ready for more! :)
