#8 Monthly Status Update (February 2019)

Hi everyone! February was a great month of backlog fighting for me. After my exams, I had A LOT of free time when I didn’t have to study and could do (almost) whatever I wanted for a few weeks. My initial plan was to prioritize long games (which I wouldn’t finish this month), but when I noticed I had an unusually bad luck on SG (only won 1 game in the whole month despite entering a bunch of GAs daily - when you compare it with my previous win counts it’s crazy low) I also tried to complete some shorter games so that my completed/added games ratio would be as good as possible. I wasn’t able to make the ratio equal to 1 in time, but I was really close :D

Overall I played for over 90h during this month and had lots of fun! :)
March is already really busy for me (that’s why I post the update a whole week later than usual), but at least I’m entering this busy period super refreshed :)

Out of the games I completed this month there are two I could recommend:

  • MouseCraft - nice little puzzle game where you guide 3 mice moving in a Lemming-like fashion. There are 80 grid-based levels where you place tetromino-shaped blocks with various properties (normal blocks, TNT blocks, etc.), so that the rodents get all of the collectibles and safely reach the end. The later levels give you a lot of freedom, so there will be several ones which will make you think: “Hmmm, I don’t think it was the intended solution, but it works” or ones where it’s not that hard to “outsmart the developers” by beating the level without using all of the given items. I’ve also found a couple glitches, but it’s nothing which would affect my enjoyment of the game. Recommended for people who like simple, but good puzzle games.
  • Hero of the Kingdom II - Hero of the Kingdom is a series of casual laid-back adventure games done right. It’s hard to explain the gameplay if you’ve never seen it since it’s a very unique thing, but I guess “a top down point&click game where you collect dozens of various resources and do lots of quests which require you to get other types of resources which you can get from this guy if you first help him with X using things you can get elsewhere” is the best explanation I can think of. The second entry in the series doesn’t introduce too many changes to the formula, but it absolutely doesn’t need it! If you liked the first game you can be sure to enjoy this one as well <3

Congrats on your great february, 90h is a huge chunk against the backlog \o/

Hero of the kingdom is such simple, yet addicting game. I still need to play the third game. It will probably be just more of the same, but it’s fun.
90h is truly impressive! Congratz!

I don’t have the third game yet, but from what I’ve heard it is slightly less enjoyable than the first two, becuase it changes the formula by making the collectibles respawn when you wander around and requires you to use that fact for grinding :<
