Gotta Crochet 'Em All!

I think generally speedrun achievements are designed for a second playthrough or beyond. I just played Monkey Island 2 last July, and did the speedrun cheevo shortly after my playthrough so that it would be relatively fresh in my mind. I still don’t understand the appeal of these things.

Minamimoto

I think they’re okay-ish in games with battle where you have to bring tactics and skills to beat fights as quickly as possible. Following a guide or memorize every solution isn’t something I’d call the time pressure worth it?

Trent

Yeah, I’m not a big fan of speedruns in general, but for point-and-clicks I don’t really see the point.

Cece09

Omg I’ve been missing the pokemon all this time. I never thought to click on it till now

Minamimoto

Maybe I should’ve marked it better <D

Kyrrelin

Another one here. Didn’t occurred to me it’s clickable. XD
Very cute!!! Amazing work, really. :3

How are you liking Planet Zoo? I have always liked Zoo tycoon so I am very tempted to buy it. ;D

Minamimoto

After fighting through all the bugs (just as the start of Planet Coaster, both games are a mess and it may still take a while until everything works as it’s supposed to work but there are fixes which eventually worked for me) Planet Zoo is very very good! The animals all act as real animals, I truely was surprised how real they act! I remember being shocked when I watched my snow leopard jump on a 65 feet high tree :,D The only thing I miss are some penguins but overall I love Planet Zoo and definately would recommend it :)

Also thank you! ♥ (definately have to mark it clickable somehow)

I’m with you on speedrun achievements. Especially if the timing is a bit too tight. I think it’s great that you have people who can run through a game in 10 seconds using every trick in the book. But unless the focus of the game is speed, it’s bit silly to punish anyone who wants a 100% on the game by forcing them to play quickly and because your final achievement is usually the speed run, your last impression of a good game can often be ruined by the frustration you experienced trying to beat the speedrun. Of course some games sell themselves on the speed and skill required, so you know what you are signing up for, but on an adventure game it’s just silly.

Arbiter Libera

Interesting. I’ve been lead to believe that Genesis was a Diablo clone, but it’s more of a perspective shift in the end and still retains that Darksiders vibe?

Minamimoto

It’s definately not a clone. Every darksiders seems to be inspired by some other genre, as DS2 is somewhat like a rpg-like, dark Zelda and Genesis may was inspired by Diablo. But they still have their own charme and lore and while playing they don’t feel like they really try to copy something. Genesis is a truely worthy Darksiders spin-off! Also Strife really shot himself into my heart :D

Arbiter Libera

That’s great to hear. Makes me wonder if we’ll get that co-op Darksiders game now that Genesis and Darksiders 3 are both out.

Minamimoto

Genesis is already designed for coop o: Did they say something about another game?

Arbiter Libera

That was the plan when Vigil was still around and in charge - game for each Horsemen and then a co-op one with all four. No idea what THQ Nordic’s end game is, though.

Minamimoto

I had no idea! Fingers crossed!

Lapras is adorable <3

I hate those “speedrun” type of achievements, mostly because I don’t like speedrunning a game and even less replaying it just to get a speedrun achievement (with the risk to not even make it in time). I guess it’s because I tend to take my sweet time and explore everything, so I don’t even enjoy just rushing through a game. Plus for P&C games, they often imply following an ‘optimized’ guide which I feel has even less point than a game where speedrunning implies some kind of skill.

Minamimoto

I really couldn’t have said it better!

Thank you ♥ It took more time than it should have uú

EvilBlackSheep

The result is worth it ♥
