Let’s see. 2021.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla (PS4):

Definitely a lot of fun. All told, spent about 170 hours in it. Saved a few things for when the expansions drop. This game also does a few interesting story things. It wraps up Layla’s arc, presents the new modern day protagonist for the series moving forward, and actually ties the Desmond Arc together with Layla’s arc, bringing the entire series together in a nice wrap up which also begins the third arc. Finally, they also set up the series through the ending of Valhalla, to take on a multiverse, Dr Strange style moving forward.

Ys IX: Monstrum Nox (PS4):

Another solid entry in the series. In this one, Adol and Dogi find themselves in a prison city. I thought the story wasn’t as good as 8, but was still really good on its own. Although open world to an extent, this is actually the most condensed setting for a Ys game that I’ve seen. It’s also necessarily a darker, less lush setting. All that said, it’s a definite fine entry in the series. I think it weighed in at around 35-40 hours. Ish.

One side note. For you challenge whores out there, normal was insanely easy. You’ll definitely want to bump the difficulty up.

Borderlands 3. Lots of fun. Also about a quarter of the way through Victor Vran. Excellent iso ARPG, but I’m not particularly feeling it. Probably gonna jump to the Motorhead stuff and then retire it.
