Deus Ex: Invisible War

13 hours, no achievements
3,5/5

Since I didn't manage to play the first Deus Ex, I felt like I missed out on a few story things. But that's ok, it still worked and I think it was still pretty good. At first I was rather annoyed for having to walk around that much - add the stupid loading screens which transported me EVERY time to the desktop, just to switch back to the game and load - but at some point I didn't mind that much anymore. Yes, it was still stupid, bu the game was good enough to not really mind. I had one very big problem at around 3/5 of the game. Maybe even closer to the end: I was constantly out of ammo, bc I couldn't find a way too effectively kill off the big Templar guys. In the end I found a way, but still, lots of ammo D:
So at some point I was screwed. I had tons of enemies ahead. I just somehow hid inside a ventilation shaft and… they killed each other off? Still unclear why they did that, but it was good enough I guess. Ok, so you'd think all clear and you will just find ammo right? Bc there is this big stupid robot in the next room and you have nothing to beat him. So what to do? I skilled to take over machines and stuff and thought about sending him off as far as I could - which wasn't far enough for my purpose. So I… well, shot the ground. And did that again. And uuuuupsi, did I just make the robot kill itself? Guess that works as well xD
Biggest problem all through the game though: Who to side with? Honestly, I still haven't figured out what would have been the best course and yes, I do remember having the same problem with Human Revolution. At some point I just didn't know anymore who to trust, what to do and who were actually the good guys. It all just blurred. So I just went on and did the first thing… well, which I did. Was maybe not the smartest move, maybe not the easiest or most comfortable, but we got an ending! And my, did she shine! \o/
No hidden LEWDness nor gay-ship included - well, maybe, but… no, not really
Recommendation? Yes

oh somehow missed this post good thing i got bored and went down a bit to much. Now I feel like I should read about deus ex because why else did I find this for

Yeah having to side with someone who you don’t know to trust is hard. I remember in ffx2 you are tasked to pick a side however 1 of them will progress the story along the other just ends the game. But its like hey at least the one who ends the game I know what they are about! Idk you other guys and you sure haven’t given me anything to trust you over except for the fact there’s a few old buddies I didn’t even like there!

ninglor03

Sry, there was nothing more in here xD

It’s just there seemed to be constantly more and more and more. And the person you started of trusting turned out to be different. And each of the factions - different. Made it awfully complicated. Maybe I didn’t find all infos, so I didn’t understand it all. But yeah, I like to have more to work with, if I have to make such grave decisions -.-

Cece09

that’s why I love knowing decisions in telltale games and stuff like that before hand. Sure I dont get to experience it for the 1st time but I will have the perfect game. No one will be sad and dying on my watch if I have anything to do about it!

ninglor03

I try to do things the first time round on my own. Especially TT games :D But I get where you’re coming from :)

Yeah those loading screens are pretty annoying. It’s like the game has to close and relaunch itself to load another level. What were they thinking?! The first Deus Ex didnt have that problem!

I get you about who to trust, I had the same problem when playing through the first game. So many choices and I had a hard time picking one.

Now that I hear you’ve had a problem with ammo, I’m glad I focused more on strength and using melee weapons. The side effect is that I can’t annoy the hell out of NPCs now because when I throw stuff at them it actually hurts them, if not instakills them…

ninglor03

I dunno. It was super irritating. Even more so if my steam friends really saw that constantly :D

I figured it was already a thing in the first game. Well I guess, you’re prepared after all ^^

It became a little less of a problem, once I started working with the rocket launcher thingy. But still. Way too little ammo out there later on -.-
And I love to snipe! Super stupid though, bc it just burns up the ammo.
Hope you still enjoy the game \o/

Haha, yeah, I was thinking what are you doing there. XD

ninglor03

I’m very sorry. That was not on purpose D:

kubikill

So far it’s okay, it’s not as good as the first game or Human Revolution though.

ninglor03

Soooooo I only liked it, bc I haven’t played the first and it’s been a while since I played Human Revolution? :(

Went invisible and sneak by every enemy with a horde of ammo or dealt with them via mines :3 Yeah… ammo was such a problem for me too… heh… heh… runs

I had a similar issue as far as endings go for the first two games. They often were very over the top and cheesy with no one side really having that great of a point. I at least saw better ethical takes in Human Revolution and didn’t go full tilt as far as effects.

There are a LOT of returning characters ftom Deus Ex, so I am sure there was quite a bit lost on you in terms of story and alliances.
Glad you were able to overall enjoy it, despite the issues and playong the predecessor.

ninglor03

O.O I only was invisible for the mech stuff.

Yeah, I figured I could have needed more background info, aka knowing the first game. Well, it worked out. Maybe now I see Human Revolution with different eyes though :D
