    Oh I looove shop games! I seriously don't know why I retired this years ago because this time I had quite fun. Although you don't search for your materials yourself (like dungeon crawling or whatever) and can't choose your own prices.

    For about the first half of the game it wasn't that easy either. You have to pay each month for your worker's salary, your “boss” wants to have his share, you have to pay for the materials or have enough spare time to send your workers to search for some, pay for their vacation and still have to manage to forge good weapons you can sell. But I don't know what happened in the second half. Suddenly I was that rich that nothing was a challenge anymore and I made more and more money without ever worrying about it anymore. My weapons became that good that there wasn't any competition anymore and I won every price each year (and got even more money). The game also offers a lot of details to it's system but somehow they just don't matter. For example there are events but I never did pay attention to them and they were more annoying than useful.

    The most disappointing part however was the achievement hunting. After completing the game I wanted to forge each type of weapon 50 times which took a long amount of time. And wasn't fun at all as you just sit there, wait for your workers to complete the forging and choose the next weapon. I didn't even sell them anymore. It took about 4 years ingame to complete every achievement (well except for the DLC as I don't own it), paying each month about 90k to the workers and still I ended the game with 8 million left. o.ö

    Every hundred years a hero is chosen to defeat Mormo, an evil queen of monsters and darkness. Each hero only has four days to gather the needed tools and destroy her anchors until the time for the battle has come. If the sword fails the kingdom has to suffer another 100 years. So basically it's a roguelite Zelda.

    It was fun tbh. The first run didn't go well at all but based on HLTB and it's recorded time to complete the game this seems to be normal. As you progress through the game, search for the toys and complete quests your sword levels up and gains strength so you have an idea how well prepared you are for the final battle. Still you don't have the time to slay every monster that comes in your way or pay each optional dungeon a visit. To me that was a bit sad as I really liked that for once I had a reason to kill the monsters and not only run past them as I often deal with them in any TloZ game. I also love to explore and find everything there is which was sadly not possible.

    The game has a high replay value! Although I beat Mormo in my second try I played some more runs only because there are a lot of different heroes to choose from and each one starts with different resistance and skills and also the map you play on is randomized each time new. Still I'm far away from having seen everything from the game.

You remind me that I did love the Holy potatoes game when I played it, but it was at the time when i was playing a lot of games at the same time and finishing none, I should pick it back up! I grabbed the swords of Ditto yesterday from a bundle split, I’m glad to read it got better (it had pretty bad reviews at launch so I had removed it from my wishlist)

Yes you should! At least HPAWS isn’t that long to beat. But I guess we all played too much and finished nothing at some point (and sometimes I still do do >D).
I wasn’t aware of the bad reviews from Ditto so I just read some of them. Beside the technical issues which didn’t occur to me at all I’d still agree with those gameplay wise. They just didn’t matter for me? I don’t know why games suffer so hard trying to clone TLoZ. Maybe I was just biased in the need of finally enjyoing one of them |D

I have to admit a zelda clone roguelike was what attracted me when it was first announced, and I think people might have been expecting too much or it was really buggy. It seems to have been patched recently too, so maybe that added a lot. :D

I found Moonlighter pretty well made! There you have to crawl through dungeons and search for rare materials you can sell. Same with Recettear. Although it doesn’t have the best graphics (and also tries very hard to be extremely cute and succeeds) it’s not to underestimate. In fact I found this game to be a nice challenge in time management, if you like those.
