Summer Steam Sale and June 2019 Progress Preview

Are you tempted to buy additional games during the Summer Sale like I am? Here are some things to consider:

  • Is there any hardware or software you could buy that would make your games more enjoyable to play? For example: Earlier this year I got a different GPU, I got an SSD, I got a somewhat faster CPU for cheap, and I had to replace some RAM so I ended up with 24 GB total. I spent less on games so I could spend more on my hardware.

  • Do you have any extra trading cards or marketable Steam items you can sell? Augmented Steam browser extension can help make that easier. I reached Steam Level 30 recently through crafting badges and decided I didn’t need to craft anymore badges from cards. So I started selling the 700+ I still had. I now have ~$15 in my Steam wallet.

  • Are there any games you don’t want to start playing until you have DLC for them? I keep a list of these games and use ITAD to notify me when their DLC gets cheaper.

My 2019 Summer Steam Sale shopping cart (so far)

The Summer Sale drag race game is damn confusing other than which teams are ahead (go team Corgi!). I understand the “Driver’s Manual” and read all the FAQs but different terms are used in many different places on the Grand Prix page.

June 2019 Progress Preview

Here is a sneak preview of my progress, but without short reviews - Those will be posted near or after the month’s end.

Newly Beaten games!

Other games I’ve been playing:

Games I’ve been playing but have added to my “Stuck” list:

Cece09

Well I was planning on buying xblaze memories (gonna say thats the correct but could be very wrong) since its very cheap and its the last part i need. Apart from that I didn’t really know what else but I also want to get the last 2 parts to my grisaia phantom trigger and possibly consider getting danganronpa but only xblaze is a confirm buy

Aquilla

Apparently my steam backlog isnt big enough - 5 games

  • Titan Souls
  • One Finger Death Punch 2
  • Everything
  • Keepsake
  • Eastshade
  • Noble Gamer

For the backlog that doesnt have Everything ;)

Hey at least about half your backlog is played, beaten, or completed

    Arbiter Libera

I broke my own rule of waiting until the very last day before buying anything, but more so because I’ll still be able to refund if any of these pop up in Humble Monthly nine days from now:

    • CONCEPTION II
    • South Park The Fractured But Whole - WW Single Bundle Standard
    • The Inner World: The Last Wind Monk
    • Sorcery Saga: Curse of the Great Curry God
    • Lost Dimension
    • Mugen Souls Z

    Clearing out my wishlist, basically.

Problem lies in the fact my mobo is too old for any tangible upgrades to the system. Got an SSD, but changing my CPU, which is the primary thing I would get seeing as my 1060 is still trudging alone just fine, would basically mean also buying a new mobo that would support new chipset(s) which in turn means buying DDR4 RAM as well.

Hey thats a good idea, even for DLC! ITAD just tipped me off on a historic low price of a different DLC (for Turmoil) on a 3rd party store.

We are totally in the same boat, where I too am working within the confines of my old mobo. Its not worth it to me yet to replace it, pay a ton more for a way faster CPU, and DDR4 RAM. I clung to my GTX 680 since it first came out, then I sold it this winter to pay for most of the cost of a GTX 1060.

Only bought Portal 2 so far. Might pick up the XCOM 2 DLCs I’m still missing later this week.

    IcyGlare

Haven’t bought anything yet, but I might buy some games on my wishlist. I kinda feel a bit guilty about buying new games since I still haven’t touched Resident Evil 2, which I bought even before it was released. I was in the mood to play it at the time, but when I was ready to play it, my hard drive died and I didn’t feel like downloading the whole thing again. After I got an SSD and switched to a fiber optic connection, I was no longer in the mood for it and it’s gathering virtual dust in the backlog.

My PC can still run the games I currently have on ultra/high settings but my CPU (i5 4460) is showing its age. When I check the system requirements for new games, it looks like my CPU doesn’t meet even the minimum requirements. It would be nice to have a newer CPU but it would mean I’d also have to buy a new mobo, RAM, and another Windows 10 license… basically, a new PC. Right now, there’s nothing I’m hyped about enough to justify buying a new PC.

I have the same CPU and it’s finally started showing its age. It really is a very annoying component to replace with all the other stuff that also needs to be swapped out. :I

Same here - I have a comparable 3rd gen i5 and its not meeting the mins of some new AAA-type games. Good thing I rarely play those, or else I’d start saving up for a new core system.

And there’s a big issue with bugs, so it’s hard to actually figure out how things are supposed to work even with testing, as different people seem to have vastly different results when doing the same thing. Nothing really seem to work… So you’ve got the issue of unclear instructions AND things being inconsistent and more or less completely broken.

You have to remember that this event is made by the same people who could not even get a simple random function to work though…
