I uh… managed to successfully fail to wish you all a merry christmas. That I woudn’t complete another game I already thought a week ago so my plan was to update here early so I can spread some christmas love to you in one go but guess who is a lazy and forgetful? Ye, me.
Aaaanyway instead I hope you had a great time these definately too warm christmas days! Did you got any presents? Did you eat well? And did you maybe gift someone yourself? Every year me and my mom sit together and handcraft presents for the family. This year we made cute little angels of beautiful christmas paper which really turned out well. Sadly they all got lost by the mail!? This was the first time this happened and I was so sad and am still angry! I had to crochet compensational snowmen which were cute and everyone was happy with them but for me it just wasn’t the same as I did them alone and not with my mom :/ Also I shipped another thing to a friend for his birthday and it did get lost too >D Just what are they doing?
So as I’m still updating earlier than usually I at least ask about your plans for New Year’s Eve. Are fireworks still a thing where you live? This year my friends at least came together and decided to not fire any firecrackers which is totally fine for me. I love firework but I don’t like being near them, being in town when everyone freaks out on New Year’s Eve and just like to watch them safely far away from them :’3 Hopefully towns in Germany someday will do one firework for all instead of every household themselves. =_=
Well I crocheted some things the last two months but I was too lazy to take pictures of them. ;w; My intent for next year is being less lazy! Anyway, let’s finally get to the games I played the last two months (weren’t much anyway lol)
Pyre
Origin
Origin gifted a month free Basic Access and thus I finally was able to play Pyre!
Just like the other two games from Supergiant Games I played this one was great. It's about a land criminals are being sent for never to return. But the laws of the so called Commonwealth are not necessarily just. You as a reader was punished for exactly this crime: being able to read. But there is a way to be free again: by winning rites you get your chance to gain your freedom again and this shall be your goal: regain yours and your friend's freedom again.
Those rites are kind of like sports. It's a 3vs3 game with a ball you have to toss in the enemy's pyre. If their points become zero you win. The game starts off pretty easy and with almost no challenge but this changes soon. Enemies become more tougher and you also unlock special challenges which make the rites harder but give your group more exp. Imo there was no need for extra challenge because I already found the game being hard enough :'D Still there's no game over! If you fail your enemies get the chance to be free again and depending on the characters where some of them are really likable you probably even want to send them free instead of your own group.
If not for the rites the rest of the game is wall of text, almost kind of a VN. Imo it was a bit too much text to read here and there but overall it delivers it's story pretty good and was totally worth it. The characters are awesome and there are a lot of them. Each of them has their own story, their own reason why they want to go home and a unique personality.
I really enjoyed the art style. And as every time the soundtracks were awesome.
Spoilers ahead!
While first off you believe it is possible for all of you to be free at the same time you learn that is not the case. You only can send one of them at a time and after each release rite you have to choose someone. Those chosen ones and after winning the release rite won't return for the rest of the game. As every character has their own skills I stuck to one consistent group of three and tried to free the others... But this also caused to free the starting characters who also were for me the most likable ones. And I pretty missed them after they were gone, especially Hedwyn and Jodariel. ;-; It takes about 10 hours of gameplay and after around two hours both of them were gone which was really sad for me! In the end it wasn't hard to decide anymore because the hard decisions were already made long ago.
Also the end was sad, but probably didn't left me as sad as Bastion or Transistor did. It may even was a happy ending after all, or at least the happiest so far. Overall I had a great time and enjoyed it pretty much, still I believe it was the weakest of Supergiant Games so far. *gotta somehow play Hades soon*
