April 2018: Academically Overwhelmed…
Things are getting heavy with college, but I am nearly finished! This also means my actual gameplay of games has SEVERELY diminished. C’est la vie… I have also been continuing to lazily experiment on html for my non-steam games. A work in progress, but I am getting a better layout at the very least. Well, here it is…

Steam Games

  • Dishonored

    28 hours playtime

    62 of 80 achievements

  • Manual Samuel

    2 hours playtime

    12 of 28 achievements

Non-Steam Games

Dishonored A game I had beaten back on the Xbox 360, but never the chance to play the DLC. So, I decided to get all for STEAM. Playing this game again made me realize how well this world was built, and the truly diverse ways of navigating the maps and completing the tasks. Just a really well done stealth game with its variety of powers, gadgets, and scenarios.
After finishing off all of the main games achievements I proceeded to the highly anticipated DLC and it did not let me down. The Dunwall Trials did not feel like your typical and cliched time/score attack challenges that most games offer. Each challenge was different than the one before and offered increased difficulty as you show your proficiency. Though the real gem of the DLC was The Knife of Dunwall and The Brigmore Witches. Playing a new character, he-who-assassinated-the-empress Daud who has a more rogue perspective on life than Corvo of the main game. His powers and gadgets, though they stem off of the main games abilities, feel totally refreshing with a few new additional powers/gadgets as well. I can only hope the sequel lives up to the first. Although, until I finish the DLC achievements, the sequel can wait… and that is just fine ^_^

Manual Samuel I was gifted this particular game by a friend (Thanks again!) this month. I tend to try to play games gifted directly through me a little more immediately and I could use a refresher after all the recent action and stealth play games.
The experience was interesting to say the least. After dying, a very hip hop based “Death”cuts you a deal to live again, but only if you do everything MANUALLY for a day. This includes breathing in, breathing out, blinking, left foot, right foot, various action buttons, keeping your back up, getting up, and much much more! Although it can be overwhelming at times, the challenge was fun. With the only major downside is that there is a delay in actions, so if you switch actions too fast, the action right after won’t initiate, which can add difficulty and frustration. The humor littered throughout had its moments, and sometimes not, and I would say a lot of missed opportunities with the MANUAL aspect of the game. The game is relatively short if you aren’t getting stuck too often, so definitely recommend at a cheaper price than its $9.99 full price. Challenging, Short, Sparse Humor, Slightly Tedious

GodDad of War 4 is a more than pleasant surprise to this year. The studios decision to change the gameplay with the change in mythology and scenery was one of the smartest decisions they could have made. It prevented staleness was beginning to present itself after the 6th game, and reinvented itself tastefully. The gameplay also pairs nicely with the narrative and speaks volumes about where Kratos is at in his life and the struggles he faces in his new life as a father. Plausibly the only downside is that it is following the current trend of platforming that has been found in Horizon Zero Dawn and Tomb Raider. Not necessarily a bad thing, but it would be nice to be as far removed from other major game titles as it can. The Norse mythology is also fairly spot on and creates a fun new adventure with so much potential.

Metal Gear Solid gave me some much needed relief in finishing. I had to drop this game multiple times through life, just because it became inaccessible due to many reasons (one of the last being my PS2 died while playing). This tactical stealth based game is one of the many reasons I would call Hideo a genius and pioneer in gaming. He chose to go to so many new places that were unnecessary for gaming standard, but were so worth to experience and blow my mind to this day Psycho Mantis experience for one! I will be slowly working through the rest of the series again, and finally get a chance to finish 3, 4, and 5. So be expecting these in future posts.

Resident Evil 3: Nemesis Another game I had to stop due to my PS2 dying and marks all of the main entries beaten for me. Overall one of the better games in the series, especially with the fear of Nemesis. Unfortunately, I did not enjoy the final fight. Despite the buildup, it was fairly lackluster, easy, and unsatisfying.

After I finish the semester, it will be back to overtime with the job, but more importantly time to cleave through my backlog once more. Hopefully when I start my career, my time slots will open up more nicely, but until then another semester to go… I also decided to update my Assassins profile with some html from my non steam library! I decided to use Exophases gamer card generator and it works fine for now, until I finally decide have time to create and finely tune it on my own. Check ‘em out!
