To the Moon

I have no idea how I got this game, but apparently I’ve had it in my library collecting virtual dust for 4 years. I decided it’s about time I give this supposed masterpiece a try and see how good it is for myself.

This game gets so much praise, people portray it as this amazing game with an outstanding story and a heart-wrenching ending. I honestly didn’t find it all that impressive. Sure the story was nice, unique and therefore interesting with a pinch of humor but that’s all it was for me. The ending didn’t really evoke any emotion in me and I fail to see why it made so many people cry.

While I understood most of the game there were some things I wasn’t quite sure about so I looked up explanations on forum after I beat the game and those made me appreciate the story a bit more. All in all it’s a nice game and I’m glad I played it, but I think it’s overrated.

A Bird Story

Short, surreal but kinda boring. It literally made me yawn several times while playing it. Fortunately it was very short so I decided I’ll just play through it regardless of it not being very interesting just to get it out of my backlog.

I’m with you on these. To the Moon was nice, touching at times and some humor, but overall for me it didn’t live up to the hype it had received. And A Bird Story just never grabbed me.

I think hype has a lot to do with it. I enjoyed To the Moon but I didn’t cry or anything. I had my boyfriend play the game though and he had never heard of it. It’s one of his favorites now. I was also bored during a Bird Story, but at least you’re caught up if you ever want to play the sequel
