#3 Monthly Status Update (September 2018)
Hi everyone! Last month when I got 10 games I thought it was a lot. Then September came and I’ve got 20 new additions to my backlog (mostly thanks to an unusual SG luck) o_O This paired with a fact that for the most of the month I concentrated on playing long games would have resulted in my % stats dropping significantly, but thankfully I noticed it around the 20th, switched to playing shorter stuff and in the end they dropped only slightly. My goal for the next month is definitely going to be getting them over the level I had at the end of August. It’s not going to be that easy since I’m starting a 3rd year of my studies, but we shall see if I manage to find enough time for both things ;)
No completed games this month were good enough to be worthy of a recommendation, sorry ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
(unless you are an Edmund McMillen fan then definitely get The Basement Collection!)

How worthy of being played is the basement collection? I’ve always been curious about it.
As I already said: if you are an Edmund McMillen fan then just play it. Besides of playing his earlier games you get lots of bonus stuff in form of concept art, around 2 hours of audio Q&As, etc.
Otherwise? It’s an extremely mixed bag… It lets you enjoy award-winning/once popular flash games, but they were usually praised for the artsy stuff and in a couple of the games the controls are not the best in the world. It’s not a huge problem if you are a casual player who just focuses on the main objective or can skip the worst out of the games contained in it, but for an achievement hunter like me some of the stuff that didn’t age well or was bugging out was quite annoying. If you don’t care about the bonus content or the Steam achievements I would just recommend playing the best out of these Flash games in your browser (Aether, Time Fcuk and maybe Spewer).
[EDIT] Just noticed the achievement trackers on your profile. It’s a hard game to 100% and if you want to do it you have to be a persistent and calm person who doesn’t give up once the game freezes during a 1.5 hour achievement attempt ;P
I’m split on Edmund’s games tbh. I love TBOI but hate SuperMeatBoy with a passion :/ I’ll follow your advice and check the flash versions :)
I like how your preferences are almost an opposite of mine. I love Super Meat Boy, but hate the themes/style of Isaac :D (even though the gameplay makes me feel I’d enjoy getting 100% achievements in it, I’m still pretty sure I won’t ever be able to play it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯)
It took me a long while to get into isaac because of the style/theme actually, but then when I started playing it (when rebirth got out) I got very addicted to the gameplay. For meatboy, it’s more that i’m not much into super hard plateformers in general, even if I thought the theme was somehow cute.
