Update 51: April is over and my backlog must love me

April is over and I played a shit ton of games. 11 games alone in the last week of April and 28 in total (even more if you count the 12 HOGs from the twelve pack seperately).
I reduced my unplayed/unfinished overall backlog by 2,62% and my unplayed/unfinished SG wins backlog by 4,13% in April. Well hopefully the next month will be as good for my backlog.

Half-Life 2

Liked the game. And will probably play the sequel some day. It makes you think a lot about the surveilance going on 24/7.

From the game play point of view sometimes it was a bit tricky to drag the right pieces of information to the right profile. Sometimes you have to try it a few times for it to work.

Half-Life 2

Did not find the game that scary, just mostly weird. Not a really big horror fan, maybe that's why.

Half-Life 2

Crazy Machines 3

7/10

This game was actually fun. Building some weird machines to achieve whatever the goal was for that level. For some I needed a guide though.

Half-Life 2

YOU DON'T KNOW JACK SPORTS

It works, that's about the only really good thing I can say about it. Only interesting if you are into US sports from the 90's. Otherwise you have not much chance of answering any of the questions. Only Couch-Coop, no online multiplayer.

Half-Life 2

YOU DON'T KNOW JACK HEADRUSH

7/10

Liked that one, was very reminding of my youth. Though probably also only interesting for people that really lived through the 90's. Only Couch-Coop, no online multiplayer.

Half-Life 2

YOU DON'T KNOW JACK MOVIES

3/10

Movies are really old, damn I am old and I even only knew a few. Mostly movies from before the 90's.
Only Couch-Coop, no online multiplayer.

Half-Life 2

YOU DON'T KNOW JACK TELEVISION

3/10
0.9 hours
no achievements

TV shows in question are mostly 60-early 90's US shows, if you are not farmiliar with them don't bother with this game.
Only Couch-Coop, no online multiplayer.

Half-Life 2

YOU DON'T KNOW JACK Vol. 6 The Lost Gold

Can't say much about the game. Could not get it to start.

Half-Life 2

Paper Shakespeare: Stick Merchant of Venice

I played it so you won't have to, pretty much gives you all the cheevos from the start. The game consist of bad handdrawn stickfigures and the whole text is Shakespear, Merchant of Venice

Half-Life 2

Sakura Agent

What you need to know about the game? BOOBS and Tentacle/Slime monsters. That's about everything that game has to offer.

Half-Life 2

Hidden Object - 12 in 1 bundle

5/10
44.7 hours
no achievements

Now that I have played the whole bundle I have to say they rank from shitty as fuck to tolerable to weird.

#6 - Paranomal Asylum - 2,5 Hrs long
Quirky infos that you can find in each location about Paranormal things. Other than that your typical medicore HOG fair.

#7 - Haunted House - 2,5 Hrs long
Liked it, you have to solve the mystery who killed the family some 18 years ago. Some of the puzzles were weird, but you can skip those after a while.
Quirky extra infos about hauntings found in symbols throughout the scenes

#8 - FBI Paranormal 2 - 1.9 Hrs long
Only a few locations which will be visited twice. Each location contains of one HOS and one puzzle. The HOS itself are not bad. They become bad though with the added time scoring thing. I play HOGs to relax, not to be scored on them.

#9 - Jekyl & Hyde - 2h long
Did not really get the story, jumped in years a lot. Did not like the HOS, a lot of nonsensical click 10 times on the screen shit to bring fog away or such bullshit.

#10 - Jack The Ripper - 2 Hr long
Simply game, though some annoying puzzles and weird questions about the murders and scenes. And the find differences in letters puzzle was annoying. End was very strange.

#11 - Bonnie & Clyde - 4,5 Hrs long
There are a some HOS in this one where even if you try really hard you won't be able to see them. Annoying Map Puzzle, that does not make any sense. Could only figure it out by trial and error. I played it for you so you don't have to. Stay far away!!!!

#12 - Frankenstein - 2,5 Hrs long
Frankenstein has cut your GF to pieces and you have to put her back together again. You get help from your GF's brain , with whom you talk. Have to visit every location multiple times.I think it was the weirdest one of the bunch.

I've won 5 games in the last week and activated 1 free game on steam and activated 2 old keys. And I've beaten/completed 11 games, so that makes a -3 for the last week and a total of -10 for April. My backlog is happy :D

For some I needed a guide though.

By pure coincidence, I’m playing through that same game right now, and I just thought I’d ask: would you find the game as fun if you weren’t able to look up a guide?

samwise84

I guess I would find it frustrating to be stuck at a level without being able to solve it or if it took too long.
Though usually I would try to solve it myself first and if I did not have any idea how to do it, I’d watch a short video guide to see how they solved it and then try to incorporate it in my own design.
Something that could have been improved upon would be to actually explain what some of the things do. I sometimes had the feeling they expected one to know it just from looking at it. Maybe if I had played the other crazy machine games before, I would have known it myself 🤷🏻‍♀️
