Aquilla

Finished in January (1, 2) (+ some drops)

Uh… At the beginning of the year I decided to play at least one longer (>20h) game a month. And booooy I started with a bang. By wandering all over Greece for 113 hours… Besides that I was able to finish one smaller game and I think this will be the end of my conquers, I prefer to start a new long game, finish it in February, and then maybe play a couple of smaller ones.

Ufff - that was a huge game. And very competent. This is how I feel - it’s a very enjoyable game, which isn’t doing anything revolutionary, but is very good in every aspect - gameplay, graphics, story, etc. It’s basically an action RPG with a huuuuge map, and very little in common with “classic” assassins. Besides very enjoyable parkour, I was totally forgetting that I’m playing Assassin, which didn’t bother me, but was a bit confusing (no, I haven’t play Origins).

Gameplay isn’t anything unusual - you are a mercenary, you can fight, or sneak. Kill this guy, find this artifact, talk with him or her, completely standard RPG stuff. Besides quest every location has its own little side mission. I gave up on them quickly, I thing completing those would take another 100 h.

The story is OK - there are some bad guys, you are the very special good one, you need to fight, and find your family. What’s really shining in this game are the characters. I love every one of them, especially the “historical” ones. Herodotus is this calm, wise man, always with good advice, Alcibiades is horny as heck, trying to seduce me all the game (and I said NO), and my all time favourite Socrates, who was just making an idiot of my character time after time (until I learnt his tricks and was able to fight back). This is the best bunch of sidekicks since Dragon Age, and I was really, really disappointed that there isn’t enough talks with them.

The only stupid thing I saw was a system of random missions, which didn’t do anything extra for the game, just tried to make it even longer + this attempt to make premium currency and do a kind of lootbox system inside the game. I totally ignored it and had a great time nonetheless.

Very original adventure game, in which you are reliving the same day over and over and try to prevent murders of guests of casino/hotel. One story after another, you must find a victim, learn, what he was doing at this day and somehow alternate the story to save him. I really, really enjoyed it, even if one or two cases were a bit confusing, and there were a lot of times, when I was just waiting for the right moment.

Dropped games.

I need to clean my desktop and get rid of games I don’t really want to continue. The icons are just laying and giving me remorse,

This is my first Visual novel ever. And it’s so freaking boring! It’s not a fault of a story, I just want to play a game, not read a novel. And there are so few choices here, I don’t feel like I have an influence on the story. So I’m giving up, if I want to read a book, I will get a book.

Enclave

Quite nice old game, but the checkpoint system is really stupid. I’m giving up after ten attempts to play through 10 minutes then die and return to the beginning of level.

I don’t get this game. I mean I know what to do, but my brain cannot think in a way to solve riddles in it. Somehow I went through the first chapter, but the second one killed me.

So I’m giving up, if I want to read a book, I will get a book.

That’s what they all say… shame you can’t see how the medium shines. Might be the fault of this particular game, I haven’t read it myself yet.

Aquilla

I know that it can shine. It’s not shining here.
