Report #43

I’ve beaten three games, all of which were quite enjoyable. I’m really happy with my progress, since now I’ve completed every game of the AC franchise I currently own. While I’m surely going to buy the next titles at some point in the future, I’m satisified with finishing all the ones in my backlog for the moment. I’ve seen a lot of people post about Quantum Break recently, so I gave it a go as well and I must say, I do not regret it. On with the reviews:

A very enjoyable AC game. I really liked the ship combat and the shanites sung by my crewmen during travels. These are the best parts of the game. The story was good, the land missions were so too, but that's not what sets the game apart from other ACs. I could have done without THAT many collectibles though…Oh and the diving missions sucked!

Assassin's Creed Freedom Cry

A short addition to Black Flag. You play as your former quartermaster Adéwalé, focused on freeing slaves in the West Indies. Maybe it was a mistake playing this right after Black Flag, but I was a bit bored by the game. Still an okay game though.

A very enjoyable mix between Shooter and story-focused game. Story-focused parts, shooter sequences and live-action epsiodes were orchestrated to a very unique experience. The graphics were excellent, I was amazed at how good the ingame models depicted the actual actors. I quickly cared about the characters and was really interested in seeing the story progress. It might not have been as captivating as ME or DA:O, but still much more than any of the recent games I've played.

Despite reading a lot about performance issues I could play the game on ultra settings on my several years old PC. The loading times were a drag though! Overall, I don't understand, why this game has gotten such bad reviews at its time. I think it's great looking, interesting story, unique feeling…I definitely recommend this game and it's one of the few times, where I regret that there is nothing between 4 and 5 stars in my rating system.

Achievements: Can all be gained in one playthrouh. Basically you have to get all collectibles and play the game on hard. Since the game's not actually that hard, playing on the highest difficulty poses no real problem.

I’m looking for the next game after I’ve posted this.

As I said, I’m really happy with my progress. I’ll report back in a couple of weeks if this trend continues. Hope your gaming 2020 started equally good :)

Happy backlog-clearing to everyone,

Black Flag is one I still need to complete. I’ve beat 1 up to 3, Liberation, Syndicate, and Origins. They’ve all been fun to play. I have all the rest just haven’t gotten around to them yet. I also bought the Ezio remaster Collection on PS4 and when I bought Odyssey I got 3 and liberation remasters with that so I’ll play through those again to get the trophies.

Ezio is still my favourite protagonist of the AC series so far. Have fun with replaying them :)

i read your quantum break and was about to install my copy but then figured i should check the requirements and my video card is below the minimum requirements. guess i’ll hold off until i get my next video card, which might not happen for a few years…

Vito

Yeah, to be fair, I bought a quite decent PC at the time, so it still holds up okay. Well, at least you have something to look forward to :)

Oh, so you will finally stop tormenting me with my Assassins Creed backlog! XD
Good to hear you have enjoyed them and have fun with new games you will pick. ;)

Vito

Oh, I didn’t know that I was tormenting you :D

Thanks, I’ll try to pick only fun games :)
