I am trying new ways to format my visual novel posts, I am probably sticking with this. Please tell me if anything looks weird in your browser!

Serafina's Crown political intrigue linear plot sequel visual novel medium (10 - 30 hours) english

This is the sequel to Serafina's Saga. This series is by Woodsy Studio, the same people who made Quantum Conscience, which I did not like at all because of the too complicated game mechanics. Surprisingly, the Serafina's series was to my liking because of the neat world-building.

You have to play the prequel first, otherwise you will miss past happenings established in the lore that will make it difficult to fully understand the plot and family trees. The first title which is free and not on Steam is a pure visual novel and is just acceptable in my opinion. The sequel somehow manages to make a jump in quality also in its presentation.

Unfortunately, this is not a pure visual novel but has a mini-game which seems complicated at first (it gets easier later). I just wish that these devs would stop adding such overtly elaborated mechanics in their games because they often feel unnecessary and getting all the endings becomes too grindy—its total length would only be short (2 - 10 hours) otherwise.

It's interesting to note that in this second title Serafina is not the protagonist anymore and gets relegated to a main character.

Description

The sequel takes place seven years after the end of the Serafina’s Saga visual novel. The Grand Prince dies of illness, and a few weeks later, the Queen dies in the midst of a “hunting accident.” Their rightful heirs are posed to take the throne, except for one big problem: many nobles suspect one of them arranged the assassination of the late Queen.

You play as a new character, Odell Perin, who is unwittingly thrust into a position of power amidst the chaos of court. Due to her neutral stance, Odell Perin is elected to serve as Regent long enough to settle the ongoing disputes, and therefore determine who will become the next King or Queen of Darzia. The gameplay will feature a dynamic debate system that allows Odell to argue certain points in court based on her accumulated stats.

Lost Legends: The Weeping Woman Collector's Edition: amazing art style. When I opened it I thought it was from the same artist of Cinders/Solstice, but it's not. Call me when you find other games by this artist!

Your new style looks pretty neat, I appreciate the bigger font than default font also.
Though, while I may not have used it that much, the time tag link was pretty cool to check other VNs on your list in said time range. It could be nice to keep this link at least (for lazy people like me :D).

Yeah, I felt the need to have a bigger font despite the fact that my browser page is zoomed-in already.
:O You’re right, maybe I should put the links back on the tags, I thought nobody was using them except for me :D

I think it looks very pretty. Also it holds quite the amount of information, definitely very thought-out.

I like it a lot! I never noticed the slightly bigger font until adil pointed it out, and now I prefer it.

I agree re: people adding minigame mechanics to VNs. Just - stop it. Nobody is here for that. We’re here to read (and, hopefully, feel feelings). I’ve been really avoiding VNs with time management aspects because like jesus christ I’m trying to get AWAY from time management in real life, not play it in games. Beyond it being integral to the theme and the point of the game, like the Dark Souls of visual novels that is Long Live the Queen, it’s really just an annoyance at best.

Looks good to me, this new formatting! :)
