eden*

9 hours, no achievements, ★★★☆☆

I don't like Kinetic Novels that much. I really like the choices in my VNs! That being said, eden* was different. I started it with setting a timer of an hour, so I'd at least play that much per day. The timer ended and I kept reading. Like I can at least get to the next change in scene. Or a bit more. Or until dinner is ready or what ever. Mhm, so… I guess it's safe to say I liked it! Reading it was pleasant. (While writing these words, I've been thinking. Apparently I now like 3 KNs versus 3 unliked. I think. Maybe I'm forgetting some o.o)
Ok, that's done. Now to the game. The music was rly nice, so where most of the graphics - can I just say how much the hands in this game freaked me out? Something about them was just totally off! And yes, obviously the story. Although it got dark and sad, it didn't manage to make me cry though, so I didn't get THAT attached to it. Also I get why… Sion somehow had to be a girl but at the same time - WHY? It would have worked out just the same if she had been a woman, right? And I wouldn't sit here and wonder. And it's just stupid wondering, bc she was not a girl at all and he loved her for who she was and not for what she looked like, but still. And yes, I've read some precarious Mangas and stuff, still this seems… I just don't feel that happy about it! And I feel stupid for thinking that much about it! AAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! Ok, I'm quiet now!
Recommendation? Yep :)

Crossroad

7 hours, 34 of 34 achievements, ★★★☆☆

Crossroad is a game about a girl called Lumy - I think she might be an elf since her mum is one? But not sure -, who is on her way to visit her gran in the forest. Wait? You think of little red riding hood? Oh, surprise! I did too - but only later, not right away. On her way she get's lost - maybe - and has to decide which way to go. By doing that she encounters different men - and yes, also one woman - with whom she get's acquainted. Or not so much. But she might also find her love. If we let her. I totally also got her killed - bc basically I can! (And it got me an achievement.)
After my last encounter with a Russian VN I tried to stay a bit clear of them, but I really gotta say this one surprised me. It was light, rather pleasant to read and had some cute romance options. And although there clearly have been some errors in translation/grammar, they were not that bad, yk?
Recommendation? Sure, why not?

A Normal Lost Phone

2 hours, 13 of 13 achievements, ★★★☆☆

Wow, this surprised me a lot! I never saw coming where this was going!
So I started out believing the former owner of the "Lost Phone" was a girl named Sam. Until I started reading the first messages from dad… and figured Sam is a boy who just turned 18 and has relationship problems. Yep, that's pretty much the start. From there on we dive deeper into Sams (Phone)history and get to know… er… them. It was pretty touching learning about Sams struggles and in the end it totally made sense, why the Phone got lost in the first place.
I rly liked how the Phone had music on it and that would just run in the background. And although it looked pretty simple - and rly was super short - it was a nice one. I felt a bit like a detective, not so much a nosy person rly. Bc who knows? Maybe Sam needed help after all and getting to know stuff about them might have helped sending help? Yeah, I'd probably totally tell myself that if I ever found a phone. Right. Which we did at some point. And we called somebody from the contact list and the owner came pick it up. Guess that's a nice thing to do really :)
Just a slight warning if you made it this far and haven't played the game nor own it, but think about it: If you're having trouble with gay/lesbian and trans ppl… feel warned :D Should I even say this? Oh well, I did now, I guess?
Recommendation? Yes.

Glass Masquerade

3 hours, 31 of 31 achievements, ★★★★☆

It might be a bad idea playing this while you can't sleep. Completely during the night. Or well not completely considering how short it can be/is. At some point I just stared at the mosaic pieces. BUT! Even lacking sleep I managed AND I had a blast!
This game is SO beautiful! I really, really, really love the glass puzzling. I only wish there had been more puzzles (honestly I thought about getting the DLCs, but it feels as if they are horribly expansive considering the rly short amount of playtime? Also no extra DLC cheevos…). Oh, also I wish the music… well changed more? Bc after three hours of playing this it started to really annoy me. Ops. Well, that's all! I love it! Next time not with music. Or stop music after an hour.
Oh damn, I want the second game! I want more like this! It's sooooooo beautiful! <3
Recommendation? Hell YES!

One Small Fire At A Time

6 hours, 21 of 21 achievements, ★★★☆☆

Janis lives in a madhouse, because she can't use magic. In a world were everybody else can use it, she it considered not normal. But at the same time she is not really mad either, she just… can't use magic. So trying to fit in is not always that easy - even in a madhouse. On top of that a commander was ordered to investigate the madhouse because they hand out mana potions to their inmates. Odd enough since Mana potions are super expensive, so how can they afford so?
Although we get to read the story from different views, the MC clearly is Janis, because we only get to decide things for her. The game has really nice drawings and a nice story. I liked how it mostly had classical music. Still, it was no game that overwhelmed me, took me by surprise. Uh, I dunno how to say this better. It liked it, but it was no WOW game, yk? ;)
Recommendation? Sure, why not?

Another Lost Phone: Laura's Story

2 hours, 10 of 10 achievements, ★★★☆☆

After having played "A normal Lost Phone" just a couple of days ago, I kinda thought this one would go in the same direction. But it had a totally different angle. Irritatingly enough I assumed pretty early where it was going - yeah, I only spent 2 hours in the game and was by then done with all achievements. Still, really early. As early as reading the messages from the first person to the owner of the phone. In between I got shortly distracted, but turns out I was right after all.
Again we had background music. I liked the pictures better. Also I kinda worry if ppl really leave hints for passwords all over! I'm pretty sure I don't but… well, I don't know rly o.o
I think the first one was better. Maybe because I felt closer to the story (can you say it like that?)? Honestly I dunno.
Recommendation? You've read the first one? So yeah, sure! It's short enough. Even if you just grabbed it as a free game. Also the theme is still interesting. So yeah, do it!

It’s odd giving both games the same amount of stars, since eden* is a better game. But rating Crossroad lower seems unfair as well. Oh well. I’ll just leave it that way :)

Cat Story ahead!
So we are having this super surprising February all of a sudden! Guess what that means? Right, Ameno off to the garden! So he way more balanced and calm. He sure loves his outdoor time. And although I’m pretty sure we will get some more cold days, I fear how he will react to that. Meowing without end!
Tizio tried something SOOOOOOOOO ridiculously stupid, I don’t even know what to say to it. I like every now and then some liquorice and therefore had a few lying openly on a plate. On my desk. Tizio chills a lot on my desk. Tizio has a sensitive nose. Tizio smelled something funny and set out to investigate. What did he find? Liquorice in tiny cat form (aka Katjes-Kinder). He tried it. Ok, I would totally understand him licking it and be done. Nope, he even wanted to chew on it. That was totally the moment I freaked and robbed him of it! Nooooooo, Mr T! No Liquorice for u! O.O
I’m very certain he tried the next day to eat a cantuccini. Can’t say for sure though. Yk one moment I’m sitting on the couch, having a bag of cookies in front of me. I left the living room to get some more coffee and when I come back there is a lonely cookie on the other sofa. My mum insisted she didn’t take a cantuccini. Also it was a bit wet. So I’ve put it on the couchtable. Shortly after Tizio jumps on the couch and… tries to reach the table and shoves his nose right into the cookie bag. Right. Thank you cat -.- I think we are starting to have a problem here.
Just for your information: I totally do not approve of this!

I took my privat lesson kid out to ceramic painting, since she always sees my mugs and seems to really like it. It looked like she enjoyed it a lot. But we didn’t finish, so we probably have to go next week some more. Although she did finish her mug – dots! \o/ But the little horse figurine was only started. I’ll totally get her hoked :D

Dad Tip #70 - Make sure to sweep under your tent so you don’t sleep on rocks

RileyHisbert

Ugh, you’re making me really want to play Glass Masquerade :,) I’m so mad at myself because I got all the stamps for it on Humble but FORGOT TO REDEEM IT ON TIME and I realized it the day after xD

ninglor03

tddsfhabgbhsdfpüqewn! O.O
THAT IS JUST HORRIBLE!
Maybe you’ll get the chance to get it again at some point. I’ll keep my fingers crossed!

RileyHisbert

RIGHT??? I’m hoping it gets tossed into an interesting bundle soon at least :,)

ninglor03

If I ever get a copy for it, I shall remember you! <3

RileyHisbert

You’re too sweet <3

ninglor03

Well yk, that’s how I work :] <3

RileyHisbert

Ask and yee shall receive - grabbing the fanatical bundle for it and the dlcs now ;)

ninglor03

Yay, very nice! Have fun playing it! <3

Cece09

So what happened with World end. Maybe I’m missing something since dont have my glasses on but there’s nothing big saying you completed it at least

ninglor03

Nononononon! Didn’t happen yet. But I didn’t play it last week, so can’t list it there for last week, right? I’ll keep playing it though. But er… yeah. My plan letting it run auto and knitting while reading is still a good one, buuuuuut I had more pressing things. Like Challenges and Monthlies and such. Ok, I’ll do this! I promise! This week!

Fnord

45% complete sounds like such a lofty goal, but you’re almost there already!

ninglor03

Yeah, with the amount of games this week I’m almost there already. When I started the update post (Monday or Tuesday), I was one percent further away. This is kinda mad. Not sure if I’m supposed to freak right now or rather not :D

Trent

I liked the Lost Phone games…in fact, the sequel was my most recent won game. \o/

I enjoyed Glass Masquerade but haven’t played any of the DLC (even the free ones). And BTW the DLCs each do have a single cheevo…which is why I don’t have Taster of Inceptions or Taster of Halloween. You got those achievements, so maybe you picked up those DLC somewhere along the way?

I played An Octave Higher but haven’t played One Small Fire At A Time yet (in backlog). What’s an MC? Magic Commander? Master of Ceremonies?

Those Katjes-Kinder are pretty cute. I had to look up cantuccini– I hadn’t heard of them.

ninglor03

As said: I liked the first one better - Lost Phones - but I think both are really worth reading because they make aware of (although heavy) important themes/situations!

No, I don’t have the DLCs, but there are each one demo puzzle ingame. With playing them you get the achievements. Done. But I really considered getting both DLCs and then thought about the prize and how little time I spent in it. So I didn’t get them. Still thinking though xD

MC = Main Character :]

And they are pretty nice too. They are hard liquorice, I’m not that big a fan of the soft thingies. And not THAT salty. So yay! Although I sometimes enjoy salty liquorice too. So there you go :D
Uh, I… eh. Are they something German only? I always assumed they are just called that, but apparently not o.o (Yep, Word told me, there was something going on, but never offered a reasonable alternative, so I just went with them.) Is there something like them in English? Or do you just don’t have them?

Trent

Really, you can play the demo puzzle and get the achievement without buying the DLC? I need to jump on that. Seems like a bug, or at least a sales blunder. I played the game before those DLC were out, then later noticed I no longer had 100%. :(

It appears that cantuccini is essentially synonymous with biscotti. I was familiar with biscotti. To wit:

There is no difference between biscotti and cantucci, since all biscuits are called biscotti in Italian, and the word biscotti means “twice-cooked”. Cantuccini are crunchy almond biscuits that originated in Tuscany.

Trent

Thank you– got my completion back. :) I still want the DLC for the other puzzles though.

ninglor03

Don’t think it’s a bug, I think they want you to buy them, so they trigger you. Makes more sense if they where added later on ^^

So they are the same? Cantuccini and Biscotti? Seems stupid to have to words for one thing. Well I like my Cantuccini, not sure about Biscotti xD
