Escape room 1 has the mc be kidnapped after a date and trying to escape
There really isn't much story to this game, we are simply kidnapped, either just because they needed someone or for the money maybe but either way we are just trapped. Then at the end we tell the cops and they find nothing
So yeah I can't really say I like the story when there isn't really any, we do learn a bit in a puzzle about a criminal and like these experiments they are doing but that isn't really important here
I was trying to figure out what other thing to talk about, puzzles seem like the right thing. Most puzzles in this game is simply pick up an item from this random thing and get a code. Maybe do a math equation. This game is split into 5 sections. We got a bedroom, a library, a server room, a maze and the end game chase area.
I actually do like the puzzle areas in this game, they are all unique. While they all pretty much end up having a code to unlock the next area none of the puzzles were similar and they are quite puzzling. I never did figure out how there are 16 triangles and not 15 but like whatever
Having done the guide for the game I do know how to unlock them but on 1st try they are complicated. I only just figured out the statue achievement right on this playthrough despite playing it 3 times now. Most of these achievements are just simply pressing things, like click on multiple drinks, click on those statues multiple times. I mean that Sad julienne is one that stomps so many people but it turns out its literally right under the lets drink? achievement that no one has complained about.
You will probably need help figuring it out but with a little hint of where things are its quite simple actually
So this is a complicated game to recommend. For a quick easy puzzle sure, but you should probably go into this with the idea you probably will be buying the sequels to actually get more story. As a standalone game idk if it would be worth it really
Escape Room 2 takes place 2 years after our mc was kidnapped and has him trying to track them down
It's been 2 years since the police found nothing about the kidnappers. During this time the mc has spent all his time learning about them and tracking them down until he finally decided to take action. So we are set to infiltrate and take them down from the inside, learning more about the experiments taking place
While its still basically start+end we do have a bigger story here. We aren't just kidnapped for no reason and left to solve puzzles. We got a mission to find out more information and of course take them down. It's just more exciting and that end actually makes you want to carry on then feel like you have to
So I like to split this game into 5 puzzle sections just like before. We got our forest area, the 1st lab, outside/shack, a home and another lab
I would say these puzzles are unique again but they also repeat. Unlike before the areas have multiple parts to it, we aren't just into this 1 little boxed up room, you got to go off screen sometimes. While I don't hate it, the home area is quite boring. All we do is simply pick up items until we get a code, its just kinda sad especially knowing what's next. I do really like that end scene though, not the boss part but the bit before it
This is a bigger game so the areas are wider. I have classed it as like 5 different areas, with the start being like this forest area, we got our 1st lab, back outside a bit and into this little shack area. Inside for this home type area and finally another lab. They are just more open compared to the small on screen areas the 1st game had.
I like the achievements in this game as they have a little preview. You know where these achievements are located and from there its simple to guess what to do. There isn't much question at all, we got to drink more but we can clearly see we need to drink from a toilet! One's that don't show up are actually pretty simple also as this game introduces these green buttons that are very deadly
This is a fun sequel, its nice to be on the upper hand this time and actually go into the game having some reason for doing things. I would definitely recommend it for some more backstory. It could even be played as a standalone as it does explain the events of hey I was kidnappedMy Guide
Escape room 3 follows 3 people as they are kidnapped and having to make it to their 4th friend
For this game we follow this group of friends that get kidnapped and separated into different areas. Their end goal is to reach the 4th member of their group that is held hostage. Only at the end does it fit into the other game but this may as well be a totally different game
While these games don't have much story to it, this is the worst. I don't see the point of it, it doesn't fit into the other 2 games and was clearly made to be a stepping stone for another game that may or may not come out ever
So each character has a different type of puzzle and area type. We are in the boxed in room again but with multiple rooms per person
Paul is the main guy, he has 5 rooms which are all pretty boring. He is the simple collect items and that's it.
Olivia has 3 rooms where we gotta do surgery, by surgery I mean answer math equations and click on buttons
Edmund also has 3 rooms and I would see is more involved then others. He has puzzles that will pop up in the ending but its all about mainly remember the names of these constellations
Finally we have a bonus room for each guy where they can die. There are 4 ends which depend on Olivia or Paul dying as Edmund was just left alone for some reason. For paul its basically avoid the circles and unlock the door. Olivia is just remembering the coloured room directions and Edmund has us match the constellations to the answer
These puzzles are just boring!
Every time you complete a room you get an achievement. This game however had 4 ending achievements and that's all. It's super easy and quick to 100% this game. The endings are basically Paul dies but Olivia lives. Paul lives but Olivia dies. Both of them die and both of them survive. Only difference is oh no they didn't survive…
Even as a set I cant recommend it, this barely fits into the series and until we get a 4th game its just a waste of time. The characters are boring, the story is boring, the puzzles are boring and those endings are completely worthless
