i installed lexica because it showed up in the steam spring cleaning event. apparently i got it free from failmid, but i don’t even remember what that is. while i couldn’t try it on my touchscreen laptop because it doesn’t support linux it sure feels like it’s designed for touch, and the size and shape of the window definitely make it feel like a mobile phone game. it doesn’t have ads or microtransactions though, so you can just keep going through the puzzles as fast as you can solve them.

the worst part is how obscure a lot of the words are. as far as i can tell i have a larger-than-average vocabulary and approximately every other puzzle i found myself thinking, “is that actually a word?” there was only ever one per puzzle though so i could at least make the other words and if what was left seemed at least pronounceable it might be right. i found myself enjoying lexica more than i thought i would for a casual puzzle game, so if you’re looking for something along those lines to play through steam instead of on your phone, this is a solid choice.

Wow, congratulations on completing Lexica! Maybe it’s because English isn’t my first language, but it sure doesn’t seem like it’ll only take me 10 hours to complete… if I ever manage that, of course :D

on the easy and medium puzzles there was usually at least one letter that could only go in one place so i’d do those letters first. next i’d go to the shortest word that had 2 letters that had to be in it and hope i could only find one word it could be. after a couple of those the rest just fell into place. hard puzzles can take some time to get going on — i often started with the wrong 6-letter word and had to shift a lot of it after ending up either with a nonsense word or a spot i couldn’t fill.

Sounds like I’d enjoy it more than the glance-at-it-and-nope-off-to-another-game initial impression I have of it.
Also, “apparently i got it free from failmid, but i don’t even remember what that is” – lol. :) Glad I’m not the only one who records where even the obscure little additions come from! :D

i actually have that on backloggery — when i add a new game i put where i got it as the progress note. when i start playing i move it to the review comments.
