Update (8): RiME
23 August 2019
Aaand, I'm done with RiME after a couple of days.
The beginning of the game was a bit slow for me, and it felt like it lacked focus. After a while I got used to the style of the game and that feeling of lacking focus disappeared. I was bored during the first half of Denial but rest of the game was fun. The puzzles aren't hard, with 1 or 2 exceptions. It has some platforming, but not so much that I'd call it a puzzle/platformer. It's more like a walking simulator that has some puzzles in it.
The game is very similar to Submerged in game play. So much that I had to check if they're both made by the same developers (but if I'm not wrong, they're not). They both have a lot of collectibles and both stories unfold in a similar manner. They do have differences though, so it's not like they're the same game. RiME has puzzles and less climbing/platforming than Submerged, which doesn't have any puzzles.
I felt like RiME is a bit overpriced for the game play it offers, but lately no one buys games at full price so I'm sure anyone can get it at a decent discount if they want to play it. It was also given for free by Epic a while ago, so there's that.
Maybe using a controller can be better while playing, because sometimes it's very hard to move the character in the manner the game requires, only using a keyboard. I kept falling off places because of that at one point :D
I also wanted to go for 100%, but I missed collectibles in every chapter of the game apparently, so I need to replay the whole thing for that and I'm not going to do it anytime soon. I already have 11 hours in the game (some of it is idle time but I don't know how much), so I think I've played enough of it this week.
