November 2021

This was pretty bad month. Started trading so got a bunch of new games. Backlog bloating!

Still hunting some achievements. Latest (v1.4.5) update was quite bad though. Introducing placement bugs and it reworked gun upgrades in a way which took most of the fun. Instead of getting more interesting upgrades you get bland upgrades like fire rate + 1 or damage + 1. It feels that guns don't upgrade as fast as they used which takes fun out of it because now they feel more like generic gun #123.

I guess this one will take quite a more rounds to get achievements.

Gunfire Reborn

Got this one for co-op action. Still waiting for our first session.

Didn't play this last month so I guess achievement hunting for this one is over and marked as beaten. It is nice stick shooter with slight farming/tower defense vibe on it.

Moonlighter

Find your inner capitalist and leech all that delicious gold from adventures and town grannies. Gameplay mechanic works well as long as your keep progressing in same rate as you keep buying things. Many things become quite pointless once you have bought every upgrade but before that it is fun.

Project Wingman

Had fun with this one. Short, good gameplay and had nice views. Solid package. Has been long since I last played flying combat game.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance

22.5 hours, 38 of 60 achievements

Have had this one on my backlog for years. Bought it in some winter sale when we still had Steam gifts. Didn't like the gameplay feel at all in the beginning. There is no common dodge/dash mechanic as the game relies on "parrying". This made movement feel sluggish compared to the typical genre representative. Nice soundtrack (if you enjoy rock) and it makes you feel like a true slasher at times.

How is Moonlighter? It’s still in my backlog. A lot of people like it and the shop aspect looks super fun! What was your favorite game this month?

It is my first shop game so cannot really compare it to others in its genre. Regardless, I enjoyed the game. It is short-ish and gameplay loop works really well for the duration of the game. My game time is longer because of achievement hunting. Could have finished it in ~15 hours (it has achievement for finishing it under ten). Movement feels slightly clumsy at first because you cannot attack diagonally but after you get used to it, combat feels alright.

I would put Project Wingman as my favorite if one had to be picked out of these. It felt refreshing to play a flying game after so long and the game worked well in every area.
