So the big steam sale is over, and I guess it’s time to make a steam sale haul post! This is the smallest one I think I’ve ever made. The sale did not exactly inspire me to spend much money.

So, just 4 things, of which 2 were DLCs.
I’ve been meaning to pick up Siege of Dragonspear for a while now, and now I finally did it. I’ve started a new Baldur’s Gate character already, and will be doing a complete playthrough of both the base game, the original Tales from the Sword Coast expansion, plus Siege of Dragonspear. I’ve played through Baldur’s gate once before, but it was without any expansions (I even have my CDs in that original paper case they came in)
The Room Three is, as the name implies, a sequel to The Room Two, and at that low price, it was hard to resist. Both The Room 1 & 2 were really fun puzzle games.
Heroes of Hammerwatch has been a game I’ve played a fare bit recently in co-op, and this DLC adds a new area plus a new class. The discount was not amazing, but Heroes of Hammerwatch has been fun enough that it’s still probably worth it.
And finally Crowtell renovations, which is a cute looking platformer that was removed from Steam a few years back after the developer submitted a summer sale discount a day or two too late, and Valve chose to nuke the game from the storefront instead of just not applying the discount, and then seemingly refused to talk to the dev (valve don’t take actions if
developers who post fake reviews, or actual harmful software get back on the storefront, saying that everyone deserves a second or third chance… but submit your discount a day too late and you’re the devil!). The game looks quite fun, and now I’ll finally be able to play it

Myself, I ended up grabbing the Kingdoms of Amalur collection the last day of the sale (was really considering not buying anything this time because I personally didn’t want to support the Grand Prix event, but I couldn’t find any other place to buy that game for a low price O.o).
What I’d like to know is, can Heroes of Hammerwatch be played solo? It looks really good, but I almost never play co-op.

Fnord

Yep. It’s quite fun solo, I’ve done some runs alone and enjoyed myself.

Vito

Was wondering about that, too. Thanks for the answer from me as well :)

Lucky Thirteen

Ah, that’s great, thanks for the answer :) Might be adding the game to my wishlist to keep an eye on future discounts!

Trent

Out of curiosity, why didn’t you want to support the event…because it was a complicated, buggy mess? Or was there something more?

Lucky Thirteen

Yup, because it felt like a hastily cobbled-together thing, designed entirely around spending money. Plus it wasn’t even an interactive minigame that we could actually participate in.

Well, I got even less: One PPU DLC. This was a pretty sad sale. And I was willing and prepared to spend money. Just… yeah, not on the discounts they offered O.O

Fnord

What’s PPU?

I think, with the way the market is going now, we might end up seeing fewer big sales for newer games. Basically low price is no longer the great marketing tool it once used to be, so for most companies it makes less sense to offer their newer games at a high discount, better to sell a little bit less at a higher price for them.

Pixel Puzzle Ultimate :x

Mhm. Well I’m not only going for new games. But if there won’t be any nice discounts… I have to come up with a new shopping idea. Oooooor I can’t bu games anymore O.O

Trent

All I bought was a game for 90% off that came in at US$0.99, and another that was 70% off for US$1.19. So yeah, not much of a sale for me. I did buy the monthly (for Hellblade, but also activated Road Redeption), so there is that. I considered The Room 3, but #2 is still in my backlog, and 3 will get to 75% off again.

Fnord

That monthly was amazing. I think the last monthly might well be one of my favourites thus far. Hellblade, Moonlighter, Road Redemption & Mechanicus were all games that were relatively high up on my wishlist. And Nairi also looks fun.
