☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆

Morningstar: Descent to Deadrock is a point and click adventure game with almost zero story, making it a standout in the genre. It’s not super good-looking, the voice acting is abysmal, and it’s not very smart… but it is super short so I can’t say I regret playing this game.

You play as Powell, one third of a three-man… mission? Transport? You’re not military, but not really anything else - crew on the ship Morningstar. You get caught in a gravity anomaly that knocks you out of space and you…. descend… to the planet Deadrock. The premise and most of the plot of the game absolutely is summed up in the game’s title. Your third crew member is dead, your captain is injured, and you have to find a way to get off the planet alive.

You…. you do.

There’s no super-crazy dumb point and click puzzles, and everything is straightforward. Maybe too straightforward? Where other point and clicks, goofy as they can get, have a sense of style or pizazz or SOMETHING, Morningstar: Descent to Deadrock is as lifeless as the planet you spend your time on. Oh, and remember when I said the voice acting is bad? It’s really bad.

The most positive thing I can say about it is that it was quick to complete and 100%. Any longer and I would’ve been struggling to keep my eyes open.

Next up: I’m getting down to the wire here for my monthly challenge, but I’m not giving up yet! Time to revisit -

See you soon!

LOL, wow. I’ve actually been itching to play Morningstar: Descent to Deadrock for quite a while, but that review makes it sound pretty bad! Oh well, I’ll still probably play it “soon” (by my standards) but I will keep my expectations down. :D

Not bad! Just… very… mediocre. Like, there were worse ways I could spend 1.7 hours, and there were a handful of puzzles that were cool. Point and clicks are really my favorite genre, so one would have to be SUPER bad for me to really badmouth it (Cognition… Heaven’s Hope….the Deponia games in their writing style and content despite otherwise really pretty art and good smart puzzles)

If you want to play it, play it! Two other folks on my last review told me that they really liked Morningstar, so I could be an outlier!

Ha, that’s actually funny. It was not thaaaaat bad for me. I mean, it obviously was bad, coming from Erica Reed over Moebius and than…. this one.
I’m sorry, I picked it hide

Hope you like Dear Esther a bit more :)

Please don’t be sorry c: I’m glad to have gotten it out of my backlog, and it really wasn’t a bad way to murder 1.7 hours.

And you’ll be seeing my review for Dear Esther very soon c;
