Late Sum Up for August

Didn’t make much progress in fighting my backlog since I was mainly playing two games during the month: The Talos Principle (started in August; absolutely loving it) and The Binding of Isaac (43 hours in August).

  • The Talos Principle

  • The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth

    115 hours playtime

    149 of 276 achievements

And yet I managed to complete one game (at the very beginning of the month) - The Silent Age. I wanted to play it for some time and monthly theme finally made me to start it. It’s a nice point and click and if you don’t get too serious with all aspects of the plot you’ll pretty much enjoy it. Funny responses to character investigating something or combining objects are particularly noteworthy - that part is very well done :D

Thank you :) Still not finished the game, playing really slowly. Ended up on the 3rd temple (also Messenger’s Islands from temple 1 and temple 2 remains, and star world from temple 2). Don’t want to play it on medium settings on laptop, so I guess I’ll make a pause till next month when I’m again back home wtih PC.

The Talos Principle was very good, I managed to finish it during a month where it was a part of the monthly theme :) There are some great puzzles in the game, really works your brain.

I’ve never dared to add The Binding of Isaac to my wishlist since it seems like such a timesink. I have just one game I’ve played more than 100 hours (Path of Exile, of course my most played game is a free to play one), and having an unplayed game I know I might put 100+ hours into would make me a bit stressed :D

The Silent Age was nice, and quite an easy 100%, but those always feel satisfying anyway, congrats!

I guess, I could finish it during the time I played too, but I am doing too much over-exploration, searching for Easter eggs and so on :) I guees it will have mark of ~50 hours, when I actually finish/complete the game. Or maybe even more :D

The Binding of Isaac is fun :) It can be a problem for backlog indeed. On the other hand, it’s the type of game which you can easily play occasionally from time to time over a years so that it almost won’t interfere with the rest of backlog. Plus it’s a really good game.

The Silent Age is one of the best kind of games which gives me the feeling that I’m progressing through my backlog. Only HOGs can be better :D

Yeah, I decided to only go for the main puzzles, leaving the star ones for a second playthrough. Found a few secrets though!

I always see those HOG:s in people’s 100% lists. I haven’t played/don’t own a single one (if you don’t count the Hero of the Kingdom titles which are a bit related to HOG games). Maybe I’ll give them a try some day when I have less backlog, and see if it’s something for me. The same for Binding of Isaac, if I am more backlog-free some day in the future, might be the right opportunity then!

Crystal

I guess I have only 2 HOG games among my 100%ed at the moment. Didn’t play the rest from my library yet (mainly Artifex Mundi) :)
