What can I say about this game?
Everybody was talking good about it so I wanted to try it. Eventually, I won it. And now, also played :)

I can't say much about the story because I'd end up spoiling something.
Gameplay is very basic: all you have is an old PC screen and have to watch videos to understand what happened.
As you can imagine, there's not much action so I guess even if it's a well done game, there are people who wouldn't enjoy. It's also repetitive, I would have liked some other stuff to do but it does its job very well.

It really feels like you're unveiling the story, piece after piece :)
While I really liked the sound effects, I had to disable the "old CRT reflection" effect, even if I lost a bit in immersion, because it was starting to give me a little of headache after a while :\
There was also some music playing from time to time, it didn't seem bad but I didn't stop much to listen.

One of the many great games on my itching to play list. I’m glad you enjoyed it– and thank you for avoiding spoilers!

It’s really hard to talk about a game without saying anything about what is about =P
I would have liked to write some bits but I refrained in the end because I think it’s one of those games that needs to be played knowing nothing about it :)
Hope you’ll enjoy too ^_^

The atmosphere btw, really drew me in; sound effects are among the best I’ve ever heard for a game.
Felt like I was an investigator in the 80s/90s, really liked that feeling :)

Oooo dat list though, so many great games on there. What are you doing with your life?

Trent

Same thing as you– wife and kids. Six-year-old boy/girl twins. None of those games (well, except for TWW) are kids’ games. Although I must say, looking through your recently played games for the past few months, you get a lot more done than I do. Although mine doesn’t show the kids games I play on their Steam accounts.

Formidolosus

Haha yeah at least half of those are the games the kids play or I play with them. But generally I’m lucky to have about an hour and a half most evenings when the boys are going to bed and then the wife goes to bath etc, and that’s my ‘big person’ gaming time, albeit this month it’s mostly been random shorter games because we moved at the beginning of the month and are still settling in.

Side note: That recently played list really makes me look like I have ADHD,

:D

I got the idea while writing the post and I had to do it! It took me longer than expected (2h, maybe more) to get it right though =P
I’m proud of it nonetheless ^_^

So now that you have played and beaten the game..
What is your take on the ending? Is it really twins, or is she a split personality? Did she poison her parents?

malabagaa

I read a bit of discussions in the forum to grasp something I may have missed..
Both parts have their valid arguments; the idea I’ve got while playing was that of split personality, but I think that’s what the game wants you to think =P I’ll stick with it because it makes a little more sense to me but what I really think is that neither is correct; as in, there is no real solution. What I’m trying to say is that dev made the game like that on purpose, adding contrasting clues to fuel discussions/conjectures and keep you thinking even after you beat the game. They may have had this idea and started making the game but couldn’t “finalize” it, so they went with this open-ending, thus avoiding the bullet =P Even if there’s a real truth I think we have too few info to actually reveal it. Unless a real detective takes the case and solves it =P Well, since I side with the split personality, I think it may be possible that she killed them..

Formidolosus

Interesting thoughts. I took it more at face value at first, in that there were two sisters and the one was ‘evil’, and she killed her parents so as to inherit the house and be reunited with her sister. She couldn’t get pregnant and she killed her husband, while the other one was hiding in Scotland. There were enough specific details and incidents they described through the narrative that it felt plausible and any gaps I just put down to bad storytelling on the developers part (used to it with video games). Even the apparent questioning of the police seemed to suggest they had worked out there were two people, as she kind of breaks down and confesses the truth. But then other people were discussing the idea that it was one person with a split personality and I could also see how that fitted well, but only if she genuinely believed there were two people. Any way, as you say, looking back after beating the game, it’s more apparent that it was deliberate on their part to have the ambiguity. Not every story needs to be neatly tied off by the end.
If they had wanted a clear answer they could have showed us the tattoo or lack there of on the other sister who always wore long sleeves.

+1 for this format !
