Awww okay this one was cute.

This is a short little stat builder game where you and four of your friends put together a short two-episode anime right after graduating high school. The writing is a little basic, but there’s an earnestness to it that ended up charming me as I went through the trials and tribulations of making an anime with zero experience. I don’t know how accurate it is—my knowledge on anything approaching this subject is Bakuman, and that’s about making manga—but it felt staked appropriately enough, with nothing seeming too easy or hopelessly hard. The characters are simple but decently varied and likable.

The stat builder aspect of it wasn’t crazy difficult to keep track of and do well in, and random events happen throughout the game that can help you out depending on how you react to them. The art is fine if basic, and there’s only a few CGs and not that many expressions.

This slightly misses the mark to make it onto my VN Masterlist, but if you’re looking for a fun little stat builder to play while you’re making some dreams come true, this is a good game to pick!

Next up: A VN that seems cute and plucky on the surface and then takes a darker tone? Sign me up!

See you soon!

I think that’s patently ridiculous. As seen in Ham Ham Heartbreak, Bijou CLEARLY loved Hamtaro more than anything else, even to her own detriment. Ignoring that in favor of focusing on Penelope is, frankly, just disgusting, and speaks to a larger trend of marginalizing female characters who make mistakes in favor of more perfect, two-dimensional types.
