WASTED is done and dusted. It’s basically a parody of Fallout 3/New Vegas/the series in general, and does that very well while still retaining its own identity also. Beyond that, it is a roguelike, and so like all legacy roguelikes, your first little while will be spent getting used to the game, but after a bit, and especially if you actually take the time to prepare for your eventual death and replacement, you will get to the point where your gear is superior to what the game will throw at you, and at that point, it becomes pretty easy while still retaining the fun factor.

However, only the first two Coolers (bunkers) have end level bosses, so once you’ve defeated them, the challenge diminishes significantly. Also, there isn’t a ton a variety in the coolers, and while I didn’t mind, with more time and money, the dev probably could have expanded upon that. My understanding is that both were finite and ran out however. Fortunately, the game is good despite that. Since this dev is to my knowledge currently on the Stardew Valley team, I don’t expect any further content.

All told, you could run through this game in somewhere between 6-8 hours, but more likely, you will put closer to between 20 and 30 hours, and if you are a completionist, you could add another few hours to wrap up odds and ends.

Presently, I have Dead in Vinland, Children of Morta, House of Many Doors, and Devil’s Hunt queued up. I’ve played a bit of Morta and am liking it. Started Dead in Vinland as well, but I was tired that night, so I’ll likely restart it. House of Many Doors is a pretty interesting take on what Sunless Seas started as far as gameplay and general feel goes, although the dev included a sort of turn based battle system that gives it a nice little twist. I’m enjoying it so far.
