Very surprised to see Spiderman 2 with only a 6. I wonder what didn’t work for you, and what did you rate the first game?
I gave the first Spider-Man a 7/10, but that was a pretty weak 7. I really liked the movement in that game and didn’t really like everything else. The sequel is more or less the same, only the side activities are worse, and for the first two-thirds of the game, most of the time, nothing happens at all in terms of gameplay other than watching cutscenes, interactive or not, and beating up the same enemies over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again. Seriously, there are 32 story missions in the game, the first boss appears in the first, the second in the 21st, and all the action in between is exactly the same fight. The main campaign has serious problems with variety in gameplay situations; the first game was better in this regard.
But I did enjoy the last third though, especially the segment where Mary Jane was sent into the symbiote tunnel, given a sonic pistol, and the game turned into a third-person shooter. Venom was very lucky she didn’t have a rocket launcher handy, otherwise the game would have ended much earlier. I would have sent that woman to Raccoon City in ‘98, honestly.
Ahh I see, makes sense that these just aren’t your type of games, I was mostly curious to see in case you rated the first one very high, but you’re consistent.
Interesting that you enjoyed the MJ section, for me that was one of the least fun parts of the game.
September 30th 1998… it’s a day I’ll never forget. The cop inside me died that day…..
