Report #11: January 2021

Things are heating up with work, so my spare time took a nose dive in January. Even so, I managed to finish one SG win and one non-Steam title. I had previously finished The Devil’s Daughter, which made very marginal changes to the gameplay and interface of Crimes and Punishments. They are both moderately enjoyable, but lacking in challenge – essentially, if you click on everything, you solve the cases.

The Whispered World was the latest episode in my ongoing played-a-p&c-and-didn’t-like-it rigmaroll. I’ve been trying to eliminate from my backlog games with sequels that I also have, otherwise, this game would be pretty low on the to-do list. It’s kind of amazing that the trope of solving contrived puzzles by combining disparate items in your inventory was so long-lived. (But it’s gone now, right? Please tell me it’s gone.)

I haven’t yet decided what to make a go for this month. Hopefully/sadly, spare time will continue to be scarce, but I would like to keep my streak of beating at least one win a month going.
