Well, American Fugitive is done and dusted. It took me about 14 hours to complete it, and while I probably could have finished a few hours earlier if I wasn’t messing around a bit in game, I feel it was probably still about 2-3 hours too long. That is solely due to the story quest mechanics, which basically have you completing one of a handful of types of missions, the most frequent being variations of fetch quests. They were all decent individually, but collectively, there probably could have been a bit less of them.

That said, the story was fun for what it was, the GTA 1/2 vibes were strong, the cars were fun, twin stick shooting was pretty much on par with what you would expect, and some of the side activities (which consisted of a variety of races, car jacking, finding hidden stashes, and generally robbing houses and stores (which was sort of its own mini game), were all also decent if repetitive. The graphics were also nice in that cleaner than the old school it represents, kind of way.

I thought the initial learning curve was a little steep, but the save system was generally pretty forgiving, and the game becomes insanely easy very quickly. In fact, once I reached a certain point, I didn’t need to spend and money any longer for anything, and so I just kept accumulating wealth lol. Until I just stopped because it really didn’t seem important overall.

I feel this was above mediocre, but maybe not by much. Worth a play if you find yourself with a copy, but can overstay its welcome a little.

Gonna try to hit a 14k peak tomorrow, but after that, I’ll probably start Church in the Darkness.
