#12 Monthly Status Update (June 2019)

Hi everyone! It’s finally summertime! I still have no idea if I’ll pass all of my courses and get a bachelor’s degree (I need to wait for exam results and then most likely attend some things during a repeat exam session in September), but at least I can now get some rest :D

I’ve planned for these holidays to be the last real 3-month holidays of my life. For every next holiday season I’ll be trying to do summer internships until I get my master’s degree at which point I’ll just get a regular full-time job as a programmer. But to stay on topic - these are my last big holidays and I have a lot of fun things planned for them. I’ll spend some time away from home, but since I’m a homebody and a gamer, most of these things are indoor activities and many of them are connected to gaming one way or another. I’m considering reactivating my let’s play YT channel which has been abandoned for almost 3 years, maybe try reviewing a bunch of games and start my own Steam Curator (let me know what do you think about the name “Achievement Hunter’s point of view” or “Completionist’s point of view”) and most importantly: after 7 years of using my current laptop for gaming I’ll finally buy my first “for self-earned money” PC! And that means I should finally be able to play all the 3D games that got released in this decade! ;D I’ll (hopefully) write more about in my next monthly post, but now I’d like to list a few rules I’ve came up with, which will be my main gaming goals for this summer.

Pietruszek's Backlog Fighting Goals (July 1 - September 30)

  1. Play SG wins - play a bunch of SG wins to increase my (beaten + completed)% of them from 39% to at least 60%
  2. Complete started games - complete at least 40% of games I had marked as unfinished or beaten on July 1. Progress for this can goal can will be tracked using my Started Games Completion Challenge list
  3. Do not let the backlog grow - add less games to my backlog than I complete in the same month

When thinking about these goals I’ve tried to make them challenging for me, but also achievable. We’ll see in 3 months how well (or not) did it go for me :)

If you’re a person who also has the privilege of having a summer break, I encourage you to try setting some Backlog Fighting Goals for yourself! In my case I expect them to be a big motivator for backlog fighting in the following months, so if you also want to stay focused on this task, writing down some kind of goal list might be an idea worth considering ;)
