2025 - May
What a fitting name for a month
Wins
I won this game in the amazing 17 days of Conti event, and as usual I've gone straight at it.
Right now I can say I understand why it was in his "dissapointments" day, and agree wholeheartedly with his assessment on the first level being really good and the second level really sucking. I'm hoping it gets better again soon.
We Were Here Expeditions: The FriendShip
0 hours, 0 of 12 achievements
I think I will need to play some of the other We Were Here games, but maybe it's nice timing, now that I'm done with It Takes Two and all!
Assassinated
Clustertruck
3.6 hours, 13 of 19 achievements
I did it! I figured out how to progress, and I must say, I think the level design improved? It was certainly more fun now in this half of the game. I'm happy I got to beat another one of my steamgift wins, briefly making me all caught up :)
I must've played through the game like 80% the last time I played it - and that wasn't the first time! Really good game, maybe it's time for a new attempt at a sequel? Please?
Honestly this game disappointed me a little. I understand what it's going for, and I'll even applaud a lot of its like meta narrative. A lot of what I find annoying seem like they're annoying on purpose. But I just really don't connect or even like any of the characters in the story. Everything is very much like a hollow parody. And again maybe that's the point, guiding the player into becoming a dialogue skipping story-skipping run and gun sort of player.
But that's not the kind of game I generally look for.
I did watch a whole really bad movie in a virtual cinema though, that was pretty cool…
Playing this game was a chore, not because the game is bad, but because of constant de-syncing issues, causing us to get disconnected, having to replay sections of the game every ~30 minutes.
It was so bad playing through steam, that we in desperation tried to play it through EA servers. So I sign up for EA, link my steam account (through a process that took 70% more steps than it should have). And what do you know? Game works fine! Excitedly we play through the rest of the session.
The next session we start the game again, and, my EA account is suspended? I check my email, and sure enough I've gotten an email saying:
"We wish to notify you that we have found your account to be in violation of our User Agreement or our Terms of Sale, and due to the nature of this violation we are left with no option other than to permanently close your account with immediate effect."
I feel like that's a pretty heavy handed kind of ban to give out to someone (like one day later) who has literally only signed up for an account to play a casual co-op game with a friend. For no discernible reason. Logging into their support portal, I can't file a ticket, since my account is suspended. But I can fill out an email form - specifically for appealing these suspensions. Every week since April 30th, I've filled out this form, asking for why I'm banned and if they could fix what must obviously be a mistake…
I have never heard back from them, not a single email, not even an automated "thank you for submitting an appeal". I must assume these emails just go get voided somewhere. And since I've linked my steam account, I guess that's it, I guess I can't use any online functionality in a whole host of EA games.
So back to slogging through the game over steam, dealing with these disconnection issues.
Oh and I guess despite these issues the game is pretty good

Just Cause 2
6.8 hours, 6 of 50 achievements
I'm not giving up on Just Cause as a franchise, but I am giving up on Just Cause 2. I think it hasn't aged all that well, and the controls feel janky.
I had some fun driving around, but I need something more at this point.
Plans for June
Well, Blue Prince is still really good… I’ll make more progress on my new steam gift wins, maybe finish Hardspace: Shipbreaker?
2025 - April
I was away for most of the month, but managed to play a lot of hours anyways
Assassinated
I bought this since I was afraid of spoilers and it looked like something I'd enjoy a lot. I think it's maybe in my top 3 games ever right now, but it's starting to show its cracks. If you like puzzle games, make sure to play this.

Plans for May
I doubt I will be able to put down Blue Prince any time soon, but I’ll probably play it a little less.. I’m hoping to finish “It Takes Two”, and we’ll go from there
2025 - March
A lot of things happened these past couple of months so I have an even later update than last time now that I’m back.
Wins
I won this game in the crazy march madness event, so I've tried playing through it, but its not very good, and I seem to be stuck with regards to progression. I think I got like 70% of the way through? I'll try to google some to see if I can get unstuck… Maybe…
Assassinated
I finally played through this! It was very funny, but I think it ended a little bit too abruptly. I think I'll try play through it once more as a different coppotype! Very referencable game.

I wasn't sure if I would like Anno, I don't know anyone who plays it but I'm aware it has a large fanbase. I don't really like city builders like cities skylines (though I have hundreds of hours in a couple of sim city games when I was young). I like Civilization, but am quite bad at age of empires, I really dislike Europa Universalis.
But I decided to brave it when it was on such a super sale, buying just the base game. And I am happy I did. The way you have to build your cities around optimizing production lines makes the game feel like a mix of a factory builder and civilzation, then the boats makes trading and shipping between your own islands very intesresting, and the system lets you drill down into as much detail as you need.
Maybe the game with DLC is better, or maybe it will make it too complicated for my tastes, but the general game is something I'd really recommend if you are kind of on the fence about the genre like I am, but enjoy factory builders.

Years and years ago I tried playing this but never got it, so now I gave it another shot, it's super clunky. I think I still want to play some kind of transport tycoon game, but maybe something more macro or with better UX
2025 - February
I won a game on SteamGifts!
So I immediately went to work on it, it was pretty good. I like walking simulators, though this one was maybe less thinking and more sightseeing.
I also managed to play though all of sniper elite 3!
I’m not sure I liked it, it’s quite different from what I wanted/imagined it to be.
I then played a bunch of
It’s quite cute, maybe a little too much faffing about with tool durability and such, but it’s pretty fun! You can feel yourself get better at the complicated but still somehow menial task.
I tried out Necesse during the free weekend, might pick that up when it comes out
This was also very fun
Other than that there are some games I doubt I’ll ever stop playing taking time
I also didn’t mention it last update, but I’ve been adding all keys I had lying around on humble in the past couple of months, adding over 300 games to my backlog (shocking myself), I then cancelled my humble choice subscription to say the least..
Generally a very active month!
I was travelling for most of january, so I didnt get to play any hollow knight. Instead I felt like finally playing through a game I liked a lot when I was a teenager. And which’s music I still listen to from time to time. Didn’t manage to finish it this time either, but surely in february I’ll conquer it!
Now that I’m back with my real computer and controller I’ll finish up va-11 hall-a and continue my quests in Hollow Knight!
This month is exam season, he said. I’ll probably play mostly short games that fit in a study break he said.
Instead I played 34 hours of Hollow Knight… It’s very good…
Didn’t beat anything else, so no assassinations for me. Luckily my backlog hasn’t grown any either (I must be in the bottom 80 active users for luck on steamgifts at this point 😅)
In January I hope to maybe finish Hollow Knight? I feel like I’m somewhat close..
Wow, a month went by quite fast.. Thanks for the warm welcome last time!
Last month I said I wanted to make some progress on satisfactory, and finish subnautica.
And I did manage to make progress on satisfactory! I’ve unlocked oil and trains now! But I did not play any subnautica.
Instead I played:
Apparently there was a lot of new content in a patch I missed! so I played it a bunch, and went on some achievement hunting.
I also played
but I played it at a friend’s house, so I can’t seem to add it to my completed list here…
I quite liked it though! Engaged the critic part of my brain nicely :)
This month is exam season, so I’ll probably play mostly games like this (that are short and fit in a study break..)
First post on backlog-assasins! Thank you for adding me :) I’m not sure how you’re making all these pretty graphics in your posts, but here goes anyways :)
In October (before I was added) I started by playing Satisfactory again now that 1.0 is out, and also some Balatro!
Balatro was really good, so it sure sucked up a bunch of hours. To take a break I started up Dave The Diver, which was very different from what I thought it would be!
I’m still not entirely sure what I think of it. But imagine my surprise when a couple of days into playing it I was suddenly playing Balatro INSIDE Dave the Diver. Pretty crazy coincidence!
I ended up finishing Dave the Diver, at least the main story, but maybe I’ll do some more of the sidequests.
For November I’m hoping to make progress on Satisfactory, and maybe finally finishing Subnautica (I think I’m nearly done with it)
Cheers!
