Evolve

I celebrate monthly theme with all the flaws that i associate with console gaming such as bad ports, QTE, unskippable cutscenes, checkpoint save system, several binds for a single button, oversimplified gameplay. But even with all these in mind there are still some good games that i need to thank consoles for.

Deadly Premonition: The Director's Cut
Murder-mistery-horror-openworld-weird game, when i won it - i played through the prologue and the only thought i had is "wtf, this shitty game can't be the cult following classic people are talking about" so i dropped it, with the monthly theme i decided to give it a second chance and oh my god it is a great game! The combat and QTE instant deaths that were showed in the prologue are definitely terrible throughout the game and it was a mistake by developer to place them in the beginning but what is making you forget about those (as well as constant crashes and terrible car controls) is a great story with a lovable main protagonist, cheesy dialogues and town folk.
I definitely recommend this game to anyone who can sacrifice the gameplay for a good story!

Brütal Legend
Hacky-slashy-tps-strategy game. After playing the Darksiders last month i thought it will be a good idea to play something similar for the monthly theme and this game is nothing compared to Darksiders. Hacky-slashy part of the game is not fun, combos weren't satisfying, strategy part of the game is not fun as well - gather some units to overpower the enemy troops and hope that sudden enemy backup won't roll over you (in the last parts of the game), driving feels stiff, special abilities cast with a kind of Guitar Hero style combo and take too much time to use often so it wasn't fun as well. I liked the style and overall design of the game, they also invited rock stars for voiceovers and bought some rock songs for the soundtrack so i guess that's where all the money went instead of gameplay.
Overall the gameplay is mediocre at best so it's another game where you need to sacrifice it for something else, this time it's a rock style.

Being a cover shooter instantly places the game into the mediocre category but the cyberpunk world, design and story save it from being a bad game, i actually kind of liked it in the end. Can't even find anything else to say about this game.
And yet another game where you sacrifice gameplay for a good world and story, i'd recommend it for cyberpunk lovers.

One dose of free respect for not only playing through Deadly Premonitions but also for getting all achievements. It is really a fun and unique game and while I didn’t think that the combat was bad, the sections you had to fight were faaaaar to long to remain enjoyable.

Also liked the majority of the cast and the story for the largest part. But I did not enjoy the solution to the case. It was a bit much for my taste.

And yea, it is one trigger happy game on crashes. I never had so much problems as with this one although I got it running halfway constantly after clicking around a bit.

EDIT: Holy ……you have a ridicolous large list of Won’t Play O.o Thought about deleting some of them? Or maybe adding less?

Evolve

For the past year cards were my primary income for steam so yeah i amassed a huge pile of crap, i don’t like the idea of deleting games so it will probably grow even more.

LOL, you have done nothing to convince me to play any of these games! :) Of course, I don’t own any of them, so I guess that makes it easier. ;)

Evolve

Job well done. I didn’t want to play these games for a long time after i tried them for the first time myself but i gave them the second chance and had enough fun to not regret that decision. :P

Console ports definitely have general problems, especially japanese ones. But I still like some of them. 4xmpl, Binary Domain. It has crappy characters and avarege gameplay but game is still nice.
